View Full Version : Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer...

Just about the worst of any cancer in terms of likelihood of success of treatment and life expectancy. He's been given a few weeks to a few months left to live.
Some bad performances or not, I've always seen him as a charming and affable guy. Donnie Darko is a career highlight for him.
Hope he won't be in too much pain.

EDIT: Woot! Time frame quoted above may not be true!

May be responding well to treatments!

Sad news indeed. I missed the days of Swayze-mania, but I've always found him an affable presence. Hopefully, he doesn't suffer too much. He's too young for this shit.

He's got it at that age? Damn. That's a bummer.

I'm really glad to hear that he may be doing better that originally speculated.
I'm not his biggest fan, but anyone having to go through that is terrible - let alone someone a young as him.
Keep up the fight, Mr. Swayze!

Wryan could easily pass for Slyan.

i am a fan of point break and will always give a nod to dirty dancing -- actually a part of my dance routine is a shameless copy of the move he does. i wish the man health.

I dance too, but only while I'm alone. My moves are inspired by the kid from Nightmare on Elm Street 2.

The only performance of his I really liked was in Donnie Darko, but I have fond memories of Red Dawn, crappy movie, but a guilty pleasure. Not a fan of him as an actor, but I wouldn't wish pancreatic cancer on anyone. Hope he manages to recover or at least live out his last days pain-free.

Stop writing on this forum and cure cancer already. Then you can start writing again.

I hope the guy does okay. He's been in some stinkers, but he's also the man behind Road House, and, as Wryan put it, the guy's charming and genuinely cool.

I can't believe it took 26 posts before someone mentioned Road House. Speaking of which, Jeff Healey just died a few days ago. He was the blind guitar player in the movie, and a very good blues muscian. Anyway, good to see Swayze is doing better.

"Pain don't hurt" is an infinitely better quote.
And not that it negates his disease - as I've mentioned, it's horrible what he's going through - but I read in the paper today that the guy smokes 3 packs of American cigarettes every day.
He owns an airplane, and once had to do an emergency landing because he smoked so much in the cockpit that he got sick from a lack of oxygen.
I'm surprised he hasn't had more serious health problems already.

Several newspapers here in Belgium reported that Mr. Swayze has decided it is time to prepare his will or testament. Although he's adamant to keep on combating this disease, the pain caused by it and the treatment is supposedly severe.

Oh and Point Break is an underrated action flick. You can't beat Keanu and Gary Busey vs. the Swayze and a bunch of surfing bank robbers that don rubber masks of ex-presidents to hide their identities.
