Definitely nowhere near as strong as Conjuring 1 & 2, but a lot of the same styles of scares. Much more slow paced and much more backstory. I really like the idea they are heading with these movies and spin offs. If Wan has influence on all of them, it will probably remain a strong franchise. But right now, none of these movies hold a candle to The Conjuring. Apparently they are making a sequel to this (this made over $200 million!!!!!!!) , a spin off of the nun, and a third conjuring movie (about werewolves). I'm in for all of them.
