I watched this on a plane because it seemed like a watchable type of movie for that situation. It worked.

Yeah, I watched this a while back, and it is way more nuanced and empathic in its drama than I expected. The film turns cliche after cliche semi-fresh by the sheer virtue of treating them seriously, and then top it off with a slight touch of self-aware humor. Just wish there was no that 'misunderstanding' plot point, which is a tired cliche through and through no matter how they spin it. Overall though, a pretty good time thanks to its sensitivity and Sally Field's open-hearted performance, which shifts between comedy and drama most infectiously.
