- Momo, why did we have to walk all the way up here just to get some food?

A Letter to Momo.
Hiroyuki Okiura, 2011.

What did I like? Good slice of life here. Momo reminds me of myself when I was young and her arc is well executed. This movie shows well how it feels to lose someone and how badly one copes with it at times (most of the time) and in two ways! With Momo who most of the time is angry and isolates herself and her mom who tries to put a happy face all of the time, repressing the grief and accidentally pushing Momo away.

And most of the people in this movie is really, really nice, specially that one boy who totally likes Momo and the delivery guy who totally likes Momo's mom.Ultimately the real villain in this movie is life itself.

What didn't I like? God, those imps were annoying as hell. They were supposed to be like... guardian angels, but most of the time they only 'cause trouble (specially when they steal stuff). I guess that's kind of an interesting spin on that trope and they at least try to make up for their mistakes (and even try to, well be friends with Momo when she finds them... but god, they're really unlikable, at least two of the three (the one with the long tongue is just too out of touch with reality to be annoying).

Final thoughts: Momo is not a lemur this time, still works.

I remember liking this, but otherwise can't remember a lot about it.
