Not much to say other than I absolutely hated it.
I thought it was decent, but completely forgettable. So yeah, not really much to say.

Thoughts on this?
I voted yay, although I really should't because I wouldn't actively recommend it to anyone. But I have a soft spot for movies that attempt stories about grief, addiction, and depression.
The first hour or so was perfectly done and bold as hell-- it's rare that you see any film address grief head on. Here's a guy who is so profoundly disturbed by his wife's death that he can't even process grief in its most basic form. So instead he denies it completely. The way the film articulates that through different aspects of "demolition" is startling, and it's a perfect visual metaphor.
The second half became a little too cute and twee. I liked the way he wrote the letters. I liked the way he connected to the customer service rep/ housewife. I was glad the film sidestepped an obvious romance, and the way it cleanly segued into the friendship with the kid.
But at the end, it becomes this thing about a blended family/ happily damaged people -- I mean, I think there's a shot or two in there that closely resembles the good holiday cheer at the end of About a Boy, where everybody is together, cooking meals, sitting on the couch, talking, smiling.
It's like this movie grabbed me by the lapels, tried to tell me something intensely, but when it opened its mouth to speak, instead it stuttered and no words were formed.
