I like them equally. After the first viewing of McKay's movies, they tend to get annoying though.

McKay and Ferrell's success with both Anchorman and Talladega Nights has guaranteed that I will see at least their next three films. From where I sit, Talladega Nights is easily one the best American mainstream comedy of the decade.

Nobody's mentioned that there's John C, and Richard Jenkins in this.

This will be great.

I think Jenkins is perfect for this type of comedy.

Rep!

I'm not a huge fan of Anchorman, though. It definitely has it's moments, but the non-sequiturs didn't seem to have as much spontaneity as TN.

Oh god. This film is going to be so great.

And Mary Steenburgen still looks incredibly hot.

The use of Hall & Oates is a plus plus plus. Looks like it could be cute. Dunno. Looks kinda stupid too. We'll see.

The red-band trailer was pretty good, actually. This idea… just has a certain je ne sais quoi. It's a great idea for a film comedy.

Much better than the typical Will Ferrell stuff, which is weird, because it seems to be pretty much the same type of humor.

Fun for the most part, but included the most unnecessary gross out moments of any Ferrell/McKay feature. Guess they had to cave to the Apatow doctrine at some point?

The weakest of their three collaberations for sure, but still pretty funny. Why they were still such absolute children was kind of glazed over though.

This was a weird movie. Some parts were very funny, but some others really didn't work so well. And some of those were really gross. Definitely the least McKay-Ferrell collaboration.

Starts off funny, but a little too mean spirited for the sake of being mean spirited for my tastes. It also gets pretty exhausting after a while. The narratives for Anchorman and Talladega were more fleshed out, so they were able to avoid this pitfall to some degree. You can pass on this one.

I can't believe there are still people out there who think Will Ferrell is funny.

Henry Gale

I thought it was really funny even if it is more or less the same stuff over and over with them just yelling different violent things they'll do to whoever thye hate in the scene with new ways of swearing and describing genitals to different situations. Having said that, I think I laughed in every scene. Better than Talladega Nights but still nowhere near Anchorman for me.

It'll probably be the least of the R-rated comedies of the next few weeks, but I kind of hope it is because if I had a great time with this, I can't wait for what Tropic Thunder and Pineapple Express have in store.

As funny as I think Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are (and they are funny), I think this movie is truly great mostly because of the supporting characters: particularly Kathryn Hahn. That first scene of hers (with Reilly) comes out of nowhere and is just absolutely hysterical (Reilly's face throughout adds so much to it, however). Also, Adam Scott. He is brilliant in this, though I almost feel bad for the guy for being able to so thoroughly pull off a role like that. He just looks like a total dick. It must be hard to get away from that.

Thematically it's almost the inverse of Stranger Than Fiction.

In that film, Will Ferrell leads a joyless existence, and comes to realize that work needs to be tempered with fun and love.

In Step Brothers, Ferrell and John C. Reilly live hedonistic lifestyles, and come to realize that everyone needs to grow up, but you can't just go to the other extreme and become a work-life robot.

I was really surprised with this one. I honestly didn't expect much, but the humor was consistent and gut-bustingly effective, and the duo of Ferrell and Reilly were really in top form here.

No thank you. Three or four laughs in a 90 minute film just isn't enough. Ferrell has grown tiresome. He didn't make me laugh once. Reilly had a couple moments, as did Jenkins and Adam Scott, but Ferrell was an annoyance, and even without him the film just wasn't very funny.
