So I thought this was actually pretty good. Silly as hell, but still satisfyingly grim all throughout. The creature effects were fun. And there's also a really striking animated sequence that's just a thing of beauty, and could probably work as just a phenomenal little short all its own. All in all, it's not really scary at all, and also not the funniest holiday movie to come out this year (that distinction still clearly belongs to The Night Before), but this was still a fun little package overall.

Like Trick R Treat, this is a great little movie with some incredible looking shots and spooky, dark fairy tale atmosphere.

Its Christmas Vacation meets Killer Clowns from Outer Space and Gremlins.

I liked it, but I couldn't help but feel that the survival Horror part dragged a lot. Once the monster is explained and there are no reminiscences of the dark comedy aspects of the first half hour, the movie got kind of boring. It was still watchable only because the creatures were a lot of fun.
