I guess I was surprised to not see a thread on this.

Looks good, and perhaps some of you have seen it. José Padilha directed some episodes as did DoP and Del Toro collaborator Guillermo Navarro. And Luis Guzman is in this too.

LOL Jury is still out! Pros and cons, but I have to see how it plays out.

First two episodes pulled me in no question about it. The incessant voice over is a little grating, Murphy doesn't seem like an interesting protagonist, but the show already feels fully formed. The locations, the bad guys, the overall atmosphere.

Still surprised to see virtually no talk here about it. :p

I forgot to report back. I enjoyed the season overall. I was surprised because I though they would take it through his whole story, but theres going to be a season two.

Haha, never fail to trust Hollywood to milk money out of anything.

This show's really nasty to animals though. Of course, it's nasty to humans too, but...I guess that's expected. And thus less problematic.

I kept waiting for that shoe to drop and as the series plowed on, I realized it wouldn't. It killed the whole thing for me.

I watched about 3/4 of it when it came out last year and realized I didn't really care about anything in it. I was interested in the local politics but the show seems more enamored with repetitive gangster imageries. Almost a whole season and there's barely anything to learn other than guys in the business like to call each other maricon and women in the business usually end up raped. Snore.

The docudrama voiceover was actually the only thing I found kinda fresh about it, but that only happen when there's historical context to lean on, which again, the show skimps on.

Is there a season 2 thread? Anyway, I'm still liking season 2. Perhaps it's the escalating situation or perhaps the fact that so many folks are speaking Spanish or that it was actually filmed in Colombia. There is still a veracity to it that keeps me tuning in again and again.

It's good stuff.
