The Red Carpet is an ever-flowing stream of awkward interviews, uncomfortable silences, and insufferable commentary. How do people watch more than a minute of this at a time?

I'm bored, that's why.
Plus it's fun seeing Roeper making a douche out of himself.

Shut your whore mouth.
No, seriously. I just want to prepare you guys, because Blood is going to pull in more votes than people think, though obviously not nearly enough to win. It's become a cultural phenomenon to the point that news anchors and SNL are cracking milkshake jokes and this type of popularity will justify a vote for some people. We all know Atonement and Michael Clayton have no shot in hell, so the only film these votes are going to hurt is No Country for Old Men. So basically, you only need Blood to take away a few key votes and, voila, Juno wins Best Picture. And then I'll laugh and laugh and laugh.
Or I could be boring and just say No Country will win since yeah, it probably will. :)
EDIT: Also, let's not forget that Juno has two things going for it that LMS didn't last year - a Director nom and a more widespread embrace by the critical community.

I hate all the stuff before the ceremony. Fucking assholes reducing cinema to a fucking dress. Get over yourselves. Richard Roeper trying to act like he knows something about movies, and like he actually gives a shit.

It's also grossed over twice as much domestically. It's definitely a bigger beast than LMS was last year. No contest.

Just try not to think of all the great directors with no Directing nom and then realize that Jason fucking Reitman has one. :)

Well, this is the same Academy that nominated hacks like Rob Marshall, Taylor Hackford and Paul Haggis.

I'm just going to put it out there and say that Reitman deserved his nom more than Gilroy.

Well, this is the same Academy that nominated hacks like Rob Marshall, Taylor Hackford and Paul Haggis. And that awarded Ron Howard for A Beautiful Mind over David Lynch for Mulholland Drive, Robert Altman for Gosford Park, Peter Jackson for FotR, and hell, even Ridley Scott for Black Hawk Down would have been a better choice. etc. etc. etc.

I'm hoping the only upset tonight would be something like Page winning Best Actress.
I remembering being so upset when SPR lost to Shakespeare in Love, but I'd like to think I'm no longer that attached to this process. Then again, I nearly had as big a seizure when Crash won.
At this point, anything besides Juno winning Best Picture would be fine by me.

Whoa. That's the first time that it seemed that every losing nominee was genuinely excited for the winner. It looked like all 5 of them won. That was quite a speech. It's always nice when someone is truly surprised instead of walking up there like they knew it all along (Helen Mirren, I'm looking at you).

Look who's posting.
I'm confused. I'm not really attacking Enchanted. Hell, I haven't even seen it yet, but a crush on Amy Adams will guarantee that I do at some point. Overall, Adams' performance was rightly lauded if her song was anything to go by...
Ooooh, here we go!!!!!!

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that, because I loved the film and didn't love the music as much as most.
I also remember enjoying the music more in context than I did that performance, which was fine.

Some of the power of that song was how bare it was in the film's context. The orchestration here makes the song feel more formulaic than it actually does...

Yeah, I don't much care for the music outside of Once, but the movie itself is pretty inspired.

Well, that's generally what they do when they get to the actual category: usually just read off the names of the producers.
But it is unusual to not give a little extra time to the Best Picture nominees.
