What did you hate so much about San Andreas?

Sorry for the late response. I wouldn't say I hated it, but amazing special effects and The Rock's massive triceps can't make up for terrible side characters, as well as a story that moves so quickly with plot points that are so convenient, they're hilarious. Add Paul Giamatti overacting to it, and you have what's easily the funniest disaster movie since 2012. Then again, since that film, it's been impossible for me to take this genre seriously.

Alexandra Daddario is hot, though.

Akerman's death certainly colors the film for me, particularly the ending. You can see her despair in the film.

I disagree with you about the beauty of the film, but I acknowledge it's one of her most trying films and breaks from her traditional technique in important ways (although it's continuous with a certain shift marked by Almayer's Folly). I think it's one of her best films.
