Sparks - "It's a Knock Off"
Noticed this while rewatching bits and pieces of Tsui Hark's Knock Off. Apparently the band even has a song called "Tsui Hark." Anyway, cool song.
I've only heard their two early "classics". I didn't care for Propaganda, but I'd recommend Kimono My House. It's worth owning if only for the album cover:

At least I didn't even know they had a new album coming out, so it's tough to be too disappointed. Still, Return to Sea was great and I dug The Unicorns, so I figured they'd be a band I could count on.

_______
Envy - "Chain Wandering Deeply"
It's a fascinating juxtaposition in terms of accessible beauty and singularly disjunctive noise tracks. Yet they go well together. For Cocteau Twins reasons, I love "Warm" the most from the album, but it needs far more spins. And kudos for the Envy track; their second best off that album after "A Will Remains in the Ashes"...

Most of her best stuff beyond Black Christ is on the chronological classics series, so if they've got any of those from the mid-40's definitely snatch 'em up: you may like Mary Lou's Mass best though, if BCotA gone blaxploitation sounds up yr alley.

Yeah, they're consistently great from what I've heard and I love that cut-and-paste is necessary when mentioning almost any song or album on the label. :) Been meaning to check Es out, but I'm waiting for the mood to strike. I have Sateenkaarisuudelma (longest single word album title ever?)...is anything else worth checking out?

Only got the album that tracks's from (same name), but it's one of the best purchases I've made this year. It's a bit Sigur Ros-y, only way more gauzy/droney. I also have a DVD of experimental Super 8 films by the same guy, which is very much in the same vein as his music.

This is the first I've heard from him, but I'm planning on hearing more soon. I'll pick up Beautiful Speck Triumph post haste. Gunpowder is just a single 40-minute track, but its worth the bit of patience it requires. It helps that I heard it while half-conscious, baking in the early afternoon sun, so I'll have to see how it holds up in a more ordinary setting.

Yeah, the video is hilarious. Zooropa is a criminally underrated album.I find the video successfully straddles the line between self-aware pretension-mockery and genuine pathos. And yes, as far as I'm concerned, Zooropa and Pop are two of their more interesting albums, so it's a shame that their fanbase reacted so negatively to both, forcing U2 back to making pap like ATYCLB. Have you listened to their side-project album Passengers? It's as much an Eno album as it is U2.

Yup, a very smart move to feature only Edge. I'm not as big on Pop, but it has a few interesting songs and certainly shouldn't have taken the beating it did since U2 might still be an interesting band if they kept following that path. Haven't heard the Passengers album, but I'll be sure to check it out knowing Eno's involvement.

I meant in the video, not the album. Problem is I was thinking of the "Numb (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2lbiS1fris)" video (which doesn't have much genuine pathos, but is still funny :)), not "Lemon".
