Cribbing from Kevin B. Lee's masterfully edited rundown of the top twenty-five films of the decade so far, posted here (http://www.fandor.com/keyframe/the-best-films-of-the-decade-so-far-2010-2014), and with a Vimeo video here,

http://vimeo.com/116202003

What do you hold to be the top ten films so far? This kind of enterprise allows for a fuller examination of what's resonating across these recent years...

I was planning to tackle this on my blog in a few months, after I gave 2014 some time to really resonate and see what stands out first. But as of right now at least, here's what would make it somewhere in my Top 10 of the decade so far, listed alphabetically:

Dredd
Drive
Frozen
Inception
Interstellar
The Social Network
Sucker Punch
Tangled

And then something among these would likely round out that Top 10, with the rest making up my honorable mentions:

The Avengers
Cloud Atlas
Guardians of the Galaxy
Kung Fu Panda 2
Les Miserables
The Master

Mysterious Dude

Weak decade so far. I'm yet to watch a film I would score 80+

No it doesn't. This isn't a technical decade counting from the year 1 AD... we aren't talking about the 201st (202nd?) decade. It is a representation of a group of ten years, like the 90's being 1990 - 1999. Not sure when the trend started (the 50's?) but we don't sequentially count decades.

Sorry for actually responding, but I remember these extensive facebook arguments on whether 2010 started a new decade, and found it nauseating.

On topic... Man, I completely forgot about the redonkulous fervor around Holy Motors. What a disappointment that turned out to be (not necessarily a bad film, but as with most cases where it is either awful or the greatest thing ever, it wound up being close to neither).

I was just thinking about this the other say, and I'm not sure how I'd tackle it all order-wise (especially with it being years since I've seen many), but these were the first 25 that came to mind, en alpha:

127 Hours
The Act of Killing
Amour
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue Of Ignorance)
Black Swan
Boyhood
The Cabin In The Woods
Certified Copy
Dogtooth
Drive
Enter The Void
Exit Through The Gift Shop
Her
Holy Motors
The Illusionist (Chomet)
Inception
Inherent Vice
It's Such A Beautiful Day
The Lego Movie
Midnight In Paris
This Is Not A Film
To The Wonder
The Tree Of Life
The Wolf Of Wall Street
The World's End

Bolded the four that would likely be at the absolute top, just as they were in my respective year lists. Boyhood and Birdman are still battling it out in my mind for this year's top spot.

Gone Girl
