A sister film to Andrea Arnold's Fish Tank (minus over-arching horse metaphors), situated around the struggle for a girl to define herself, willing to be prey to anyone who returns the smallest of her attention. Wonderfully tactile filmmaking, full of flesh but never exploitative, immersive in Lila's headspace but also nebulous, one of the best portraits of contemporary girlhood.

It's a companion film to Boyhood in this respect, and deserving of viewers (it's on InstantView presently). One of the best of this year I've seen.

Yeah, it's great. I think the kids' performances fall short, but the clear direction of their characters more than make up for it.
