It is silly when both versions of Nosferatu exist :P

I actually prefer the Herzog Nosferatu to the original, but even it, I think, is bested by Let the Right One In.

I dunno...I'd be hard pressed to pick a definitive favorite, but both the Herzog remake of the silent film and the 2008 Swedish film would be in my top 5.

What about Let the Right One In? Or its remake? Or, to a lesser extent, Thirst?

You mean "to a far, far, far greater extent", Thirst, right?

Sometimes, I think Thirst is my favourite vampire movie, though it's not exactly a genre I'm enamored with.

Let the Right One In is just another example of the Shyamalanism of genre staples - hushed, ponderous, self-serious, no fun.

I had a lot more fun watching LTROI than Thirst. Also, I've probably seen more vampire films that aren't hushed, ponder or self-serious and they usually suck balls.

Duke - I got Jen to watch the make-up test, and she agreed that it would have been much better.

We joked that even cheesy Transylvanians with black capes and widow's peaks would have been better than that CGI.

Yeah that's right folks. *Dodges things thrown in his direction*

Sorry for bumping this. But I found this make up test in the comments after I found the make up test for Raimi's fist Spider-man movie. Why the hell wasn't this used over the CGI crap we ended up with? This is infinitely better. After watching the video I wholeheartedly agree with this Duke. My guess is that the studio's response was "Fuck this makeup bullshit. We're springing money for that awesome CGI, man!" While ignoring how godawful it ended up looking. Not that Frank Lawrence is a great director or anything, although I like both Constantine and I Am Legend, but I have this feeling that the studio meddled in I Am Legend. And probably Will Smith had a hand in it, too. I still can't believe he got killed off in the movie. I think that's the only Will Smith movie where he dies.

Thirst is on my radar. I'll have to see that one sometime-the preview I viewed for it a while back made it seem rather interesting.

Haha. I can see them making another Scary Movie and using that.
