Sight & Sound poll (http://www.bfi.org.uk/sight-sound-magazine/greatest-docs).
I'm surprised by how many of these I've seen, although I've yet to see the #1 in its entirety.

I didn't seem them, so i assume they weren't included, but One Day in September, Anne Frank Remembered and When we Were Kings were all three better than Man on Wire and Capturing the friedmans.

Surprised Hoop Dreams is that low, I expected it to be top 5-ish.

Surprised Hoop Dreams is that low, I expected it to be top 5-ish.I'm not that surprised as it doesn't have the auteurist credentials of a Man With the Movie Camera or a Nuit et brouillard. Which is not to say that it's a bad film, just that it's unlikely to turn up on a Sight and Sound Greatest Ever list.

Sight & Sound is also British, so I'm not surprised this list is heavy on the UK/Euro docs. Hoop Dreams would (presumably) be higher if Variety, Film Comment, etc. did one of these lists.

From that list I can tell that I have vastly different tastes than the Sight & Sound crowd.
I was also surprised The Act of Killing was so high, but given that it is a buzz-worthy recent release and the UK base, it makes sense.
And where was Man of Aran? Surprised it didn't make the cut since it is British and Flaherty.

Dear Zachary is as affective as Shoah and Night and Fog to me, and one of my pics for all time.
Speaking of which, I don't think we've done this type of a poll before?
