I'll have to finally watch An Actor's Revenge soon to commemorate.

Within the last year I saw a cluster of his films including An Actor's Revenge, Odd Obsession, Burmese Harp, and Enjo. Really a great director (who started in animation a la Frank Tashlin).
Burmese Harp really blew me away. At least we still have Kaneto Shindo, still making films at 95 years old!

No one can say he didn't live a full life. I was just getting into his features as Criterion released them. Love both Fires on the Plain and The Burmese Harp; hopefully, this will bring Ichikawa greater renown, more retrospectives, and more releases of his other work.

I've always wanted to see Fires on the Plain, the book is brilliant.

Haven't seen any of his films, but have had them in queue for a while.
