Maybe the weakest material Koreeda has produced. It's all fairly blunt, dramatically, even though the sentiment and the closing shot is nice. It works for me because it's nicely stated as per Koreeda's usual strengths (fine acting, lovely humanity and warmth, gentle humor) but yeah, I also expect a lot more from the guy. Not bad but only the mildest of recommendations.
