Unfortunately this was a disappointment. Had a couple very funny moments, and one of the most epic endings ever, but it has far too many dull stretches where it feels like the film is going through the motions, waiting for its next great idea. The acting is spotty, with some selling their devotion to LARP far more than others. Worth checking out for that ending alone, but I can understand why the film sat in limbo for so long.

I just wish they let Lynch have his cut, or at least stay in the process. Sure it's probably not a movie that lives or dies by a director's personal artistic expression coming through in an edit, but considering this is the scale of a release the studio decided to give a version they liked more, I'm not sure what was so much more ideal about ousting him.

I'd rate it the same as KF but I think I liked it slightly more, but only slightly. Ending is great as KF says, and there are some fun performances. The movie does feel like a student made film through most of it. There is a similar movie on netflix called Unicorn City that was made by a bunch of local Utah comedy people that I know which I haven't seen because I don't really like those guys but from what I know it's a similar feel, Larper comedy. This feels like a good bad movie. Like a bad movie but one that has enough heart that you don't mind how bad it is.
