Huh, so despite this movie's seemingly excessive running time, this actually didn't drag a bit. Seriously entertaining throughout, and a surprisingly good movie to boot. And all the racing scenes were really exhilarating stuff, with a lot of fun moments that stay true to the spirit of some of those Hot Pursuit games. Hell, I even thought this was actually better than any of the Fast & Furious movies I've seen. Really, the only thing I can knock against it is a streaking gag that goes on just a tad too long, but that's about it. Outside of that, I thought this was real good.

Poots, Keaton, and analog stunts tip this into the yay category.

Many critics are calling it revolting since it's entirely irresponsible towards other road users. The difference between this and the FF franchise is that Need for Speed lacks the necessary silliness to excuse such aberrant behavior it seems.

Couldn't disagree with that more.

What I need to know: what is the ratio of driving to non driving? I sorta want all driving.

This movie is pretty much 95% driving.

Good driving?

Bad driving. It's actually a remake of Moving Violations.

I've read a few reviews saying that the car crashes in this are "horrifying" and "unpleasant".

I'm curious as to what that means.

This movie is pretty much 95% driving.I'd say its closer to 40% driving, which really isn't bad.

I've read a few reviews saying that the car crashes in this are "horrifying" and "unpleasant".

I'm curious as to what that means. They are probably referring to the races/chases that take place amidst traffic, which result in collateral damage, some of it pretty horrific, which the film brushes off with the same cavalier attitude that games do.

Can't imagine it's as bad as Die Hard 5 in that regard. That film is a new low.

There's SO much more than 40%. They go out of their way to make sure they're driving throughout the majority of the movie.

A mild yay for me. Ain't gonna lie about this, the racing/action scenes are really phenomenal, the roar of the engines (I wish the GTA games would sound so thrilling when driving a car), the camera work, the feeling of being in the car with the characters. This really delivers in the one department it had to. And I can always appreciate it when the promises made by the crew about doing things sans CGI turn out to be true and not some bullshit marketing story. I'm still hesitant to say Paul, Cooper and the others were really driving at those speeds in this movie all of the time, but if they weren't then I certainly didn't notice.

It's funny that the only sort of fake effect in the whole movie are the flames and smoke of some burning wreck at the very end.

Best videogame movie so far.

It's official- this is the best video game to movie adaptation. Fun as hell.

oh and the racing to non-racing MUST be in the 80 percentile. I'm going to test this theory when I get home based on running time.

This was great. It was awesome action with very little script which is what I wanted from this movie. Just a tiny bit of story to get some motivations going on and then some crazy good driving.

The story was just too damn dumb for me to give it a yay, but I won't pretend those races weren't exhilarating. Worth seeing for those, but only worth seeing once and for that alone.
