You can rent a car now! I think 25 is the limit anyway. Either way, congrats. Iosos bringing you around was a pretty great move on his part.

Psst.

Sycophant had asked that we not mark this day, since he dislikes birthdays.

However, let's celebrate the meticuluousness with which our boy reveals discrepancies of logic or opinion. My favorite was when he exposed Ivan's double post (with nothing changed) on his distaste for Juno's indie soundtrack.

Whoops. Well, I'll celebrate then, as I'm glad he's here for another birthday. Feel free to ignore this Sycophant.

Well, I'm not a big enough grump to be irritated by this display of comraderie. Thanks, KF, dreamdead, E!

I've been here for over a year. I'm glad iosos directed me here, as I've become just a bit reliant on this place.

Let's hop in the WABAC machine and read my first post at the old forum.

I don't know, man. Seems to me it's reasonable to, perhaps, tear off a leg or something to neutralize or disable the seal. Outright dismemberment and borderline obliteration seems just a mite excessive.

Its a theatre thing. If you forget your line, you say "Line?", and whoever's following the script tells you. Hopefully only happens in rehearsal.

For the most part, yes. I was able to rent ones when I was 22 because it was done through the company I was working for.

Yay. February birthdays rule!True story! My father didn't get my mother a Valentine's Day gift in 1983, because she had just given birth to me, and I was supposed to be her gift.

It's a wonder it only took them nine years after that (and two more children) to get divorced.

I can't believe you liked Idiocracy more than Yuen's DOA.

I thought I was maybe being too random, but it's cool you saw it and were amused.

I can't believe you liked Idiocracy more than Yuen's DOA.DOA is amusing, but c'mon, it's masturbation fodder for 13-year-olds. The fights look great, but they aren't shot/edited very well (probably because they had to work around actresses who can't fight), and the choreography is unremarkable. Idiocracy is a dead-on satire, incisive and scathing, and brutally hopeless. It may be unremarkable from a cinematic standpoint, but its vision of the future is striking, and it's funny enough without dulling the impact of just how fucking angry it is. Watching the movie, I was struck by the impression that Judge has possibly just given up, and frankly, I don't blame him.

It was, however, pretty consistently fun, something I can't say for Idiocracy, which I thought was hurt a lot by it kind of running of jokes by the end. I do love its vision of the future, but there's parts where it feels more gumming than biting. Frankly, I think it could have been more effective were it structured to be shorter. It is a shame to me that Judge couldn't get a more pure vision to the screen.

After watching it, I was mildly embarrassed to have enjoyed DOA as much as I did, recognizing that movie as symptomatic of the cultural degradation which I so often decry. And heck, the much-reviled Paul Anderson did the same thing better over a decade ago with Mortal Kombat, and with less shameless exploitation of female flesh. ;)

Their time had come

Ferren needs to win the big school scholarship if she is to attain success within her projected five-year plan. But her chief competitor, Mott, is every bit as aspiring and ruthless as she. In Ferren's mind, the only way to get to the top and gain an edge on Mott, is through bootlicking.

Determined that nothing should stand in the way of her boundless ambition, Ferren tries to ingratiate herself to the faculty. But she is transparent in her careerism and Mott still gives her a run for the money. Will Ferren achieve her heart's desire? Or will Ferren and Motts' competition lead them into each other's arms?

This romance novel is written in Esperanto, the international language of love.
