 R.I.P.
I watched All That Jazz again recently, so this feels kinda weird.

 He was one of the first actors I came to know and recognize just when my fascination with film was beginning back in '93. Might have to check out Naked Lunch to see some of his later work.

Yeah, I kinda want to bust out AtJ now. Might have to check out portions of it next weekend...

It's so sad, and it's horrible the way he went.
RIP, and my sympathies to his family and friends.

Damn man. He was pretty awesome, especially in Jaws and The French Connection. I'll try and get around to more of his work, especially All That Jazz. RIP.

Must admit that I'll always remember him for Seaquest DSV.
Great actor, anyway. RIP.

Regrettable. I've seen some amazing flicks with the Scheider. Blue Thunder is one of the great 80's action movies.

Just saw him recently in Demme's The Last Embrace. I'll always remember him for his great work in Fosse's masterpiece.

I thought he gave a great supporting performance in Romeo Is Bleeding.

RIP. I'll remember him for his sliminess in Klute, grittiness in The Seven-Ups, subtlety in Jaws, bombast in All That Jazz, gravitas in his narration for Mishima, and authority in what I saw of SeaQuest.
