So I missed the first 15 minutes of this movie, my parents were watching it and I didn't want to ask them to go back to the beginning. I loved the cultish stuff, and taking all of the political stuff from a side of cult brainwashing I loved it. It didn't seem as holier then thou right up until the strange coda during the credit sequence which killed a lot of enthusiasm for me. But when I thought about it, I still really enjoyed myself through most of the film.

This was an extremely satisfying thriller for me. It turned the screws of high-stakes suspense very slowly and deliberately, but it never lost sight of the human dilemmas and the issues it was bringing to the table. I agree that the coda at the end is controversial, or anyway too optimistic in contrast with the rest of the movie, but everything else rang very true to me. The direction is OK but conventional - the real highlight here is the brilliant screenplay.

Considering Brit Marling wrote and starred in both this and Another Earth, I'd say she's the most underrated young "indie" filmmaker around. I look forward to more from her.

Definitely agree with this. I owned Another Earth since I got for free at something, and finally decided to watch it after seeing this. She is someone to look out for in the future, see how she develops.
