I give you an actor.

You tell me which movie contains their best performance. You get one vote.

Discussion might happen.

After a day or so, the votes are counted. I announce the winning performance.

We then move on to somebody else.

Previous decisions:
Robert De Niro - Raging Bull
Kate Winslet - Heavenly Creatures
Toshiro Mifune - Throne of Blood
Meryl Streep - Adaptation
Michael Keaton - Beetlejuice
Penelope Cruz - Volver
Charlie Chaplin - The Gold Rush
Julianne Moore - Safe
Forest Whitaker - Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai
Ingrid Bergman - Notorious
Humphrey Bogart - In a Lonely Place

Oh man. This one is brutal. It hurts to leave behind Persona, Shame, among the others.

Still, Scenes from a Marriage.

Persona kind of by default, having not seen either Shame or Scenes from a Marriage.

That Passion of Anna monologue kicks ass though.

Is Ullmann's work not as widely seen as I thought?

Only seen her in Persona and Cries and Whispers, so don't think I can make an informed choice.

I find her hysterics too over the top most of the time. I don't really remember her performance in Shame that well so I guess I'll go with Hour of the Wolf.

Scenes from a Marriage

I've seen seven of her movies, all directed by Ingmar Bergman. I think it's too bad she didn't do much recognizable work under other directors. It's kind of hard to choose between so many performances that are so... similar.

I wanted to say Cries and Whispers, but realized her performance wasn't anything beyond what she does in Persona or Scenes of a Marriage, but was simply a preference of Bergman.

So pondering a little more, I think PERSONA wins out.

This. I almost just wanted to say my favorite performance was BERGMAN, but wasn't very funny.

IN hindsight, it might be the best Actor/Actress combo ever.
