I give you an actor.

You tell me which movie contains their best performance. You get one vote.

Discussion might happen.

After a day or so, the votes are counted. I announce the winning performance.

We then move on to somebody else.

Previous decisions:
Robert De Niro - Raging Bull
Kate Winslet - Heavenly Creatures
Toshiro Mifune - Throne of Blood
Meryl Streep - Adaptation
Michael Keaton - Beetlejuice
Penelope Cruz - Volver
Charlie Chaplin - The Gold Rush
Julianne Moore - Safe
Forest Whitaker - Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai
Ingrid Bergman - Notorious

His performance in The Treasure of The Sierra Madre sticks out more in my mind than In a Lonely Place so I'll go with that.

I guess I'll also go with Treasure of the Sierra Madre although I hope some people go with Casablanca because although it's famous it's still great.

I could easily go with Casablanca, In a Lonely Place, or Treasure.

I'll go with Casablanca.

Casablanca. I should actually rewatch this. It's been probably over ten years.

Casablanca. Most obvious choice, sure, but too great a film to skip.

So easily In a Lonely Place. He's got at least three excellent options, but this one was revelatory for me.

Now I know how number8 felt like in the Charlie Chaplin thread. Only I've got more support than he did.

Treasure of the Sierra Madre...though I'd be fine with In a Lonely Place winning.

He has many excellent ones - amongst those not even mentioned so far, The Caine Mutiny and Sahara.

But my answer is In a Lonely Place.

He surprised me with his vulnerability in The African Queen.

Going to have to rewatch In a Lonely Place - remember him more from Sahara and Sierra Madre. I love Beat the Devil though and I love his portrayal of Bogart in that one.
