No chance that I buy them, but I'm intrigued by Mud and The Place Beyond the Pines.

I've been dying to see Freaked for ages. Incidentally, for a second I thought that was Eric Stoltz on the cover.

Incidentally, Ishtar is pretty hilarious. Not as good A New Leaf or Mikey and Nicky, but definitely worth checking out.

Not sure why To The Wonder is sorted into Animated, but that's probably my first priority out of this bunch.

I'll also likely pick up Mud, Place Beyond The Pines and Oblivion at some point down the road. Prices drop on new Blu's so quickly nowadays, and I can wait on those to hit the half-price range. Especially since I just watched Mud.

Swamp Thing is also not animated.

Yeh I had to edit it multiple times but the page kept locking for me at work. MC doesn't run well for some reason when I'm at work. Can't edit, can't quick reply, can't quote, can't use smilie faces...

No worries!

FYI Criterion supposedly Predator'd the blu ray of The Earrings of Madame de... with way too much DNR on the natural film grain. Shame since I've been wanting to see it for awhile.

Finally someone has answered my fanmails about the Pagemaster on bluray.

And mine, about Ishtar.

What the fuck did they do The Sword In The Stone?!!

iTunes HD version that was available before this week (Fullscreen, as it's always been):

Horrid Blu-ray that just hit shelves (Newly cropped/zoomed to 16x9):

More comparisons here (http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p=7869960&postcount=217) and here (http://www.landofwhimsy.com/archives/2013/08/). Robin Hood and Oliver & Company seem to have similar issues, but not as overtly, awfully, greasily blurred.

I'm not very familiar with the movie, but it looks to me that the film was intended to be shown in the 1.85:1 ratio during its theatrical release and in the Academy ratio on television (Ã* la late Kubrick)--hence all that empty space at the top and bottom of the frame.

Not as concerned with that as I am with the botched "remaster" of the cells that make it look like a kid put a basic Photoshop filter over everything to remove "grain and dirt", but instead killing all definition of edges and lines and anything resembling a subtle detail.

Looks like horse shit.

I've been intrigued about Ishtar ever since I saw The Heartbreak Kid (original) and thought it was awesome.
