Sorry if this has a few bumps in it. Tried my best to reformat the official press release. Full list here (http://www.emmys.tv/awards/primetime-emmy-awards).

Pleased that Margo Martindale, Jonathan Banks, and Peter Mullan got some recognition.

Surprised (but pleased) that Burning Love and Childrens Hospital got nods.

Some solid nominations, to be sure. The winners will likely be less interesting. Why so little love for The Americans, I wonder? I'd have thought Keri Russell would have been there.

Surprised (but pleased) that Burning Love and Childrens Hospital got nods.

That category makes absolutely no sense to me (I see webisodes, a 15-minute Adult Swim series, and the Superbowl Halftime show...) BUT if it means giving recognition and potential gold statues to shows as brilliantly goofy as those two and Between Two Ferns, then I'm cool with whatever criteria allows it.

Love ya Aaron Paul, but you took a backseat last season, and this one's all about Jonathan Banks.

By the way, all three seasons of "Burning Love" were good, but the Julie season was so hysterical that I would have to pause and laugh for awhile before I could continue.

Scott Bakula over Rob Lowe for Behind The Candelabra is... odd.

So The Americans isn't going to hit it off with the Emmy voters. Hmm, I wonder why. Too much love for Downton. Yes to Molly Shannon, Peter Mullan, and Tony Hale. Surprised Arrested didn't get more attention. Also, Laura Dern's character's last name is curiously missing from the list. How do you forget a name like Jellicoe?

I'm surprised Arrested even got one nom, it's been thought of as underwhelming at pretty much every site or person I've talked to except for MC.

Never heard of Merritt Weaver, but I genuinely lol'd at that.

Halfway point, hit and miss so far. Opening filmed bit was kinda terrible, as were the opening jokes in NPH's monologue, but once he started incorporating the past hosts, Spacey, and Fey & Poehler, things really took off. How I Met Your Mother bit was kinda funny, everything that might've happened in between has already kinda faded. Ending every commercial break with an standout In Memoriam selection has gotten a bit exhausting. And not sure what that Elton John performance was even for, but the hourly TV-PG rating went up during it and all I could think was, "This is the moment everyone switches over to Breaking Bad."

Some nice winners like Tony Hale, but instantly deflated by wins like fucking Jim Parsons again. Just give C.K. something!

Alright, the one-two punch of Bobby Cannavale and JEFF DANIELS?! winning really made me realize that Julia Louis-Dreyfus has been the only expected acting win so far.

Yeah, right?

I wasn't that surprised by Cannavale. His was a flashier, bigger role than a lot of the others.

But Daniels? How many people did Aaron Sorkin have to blow to get that trophy for him? I mean, Daniels is great and all (he's the only reason to watch "The Newsroom") but c'mon, Emmy! Over Cranston, Hamm, Bonneville and Spacey? Wth?

At least Breaking Bad won.

After Modern Family somehow took Best Comedy again (over Louie, over Girls, over Veep, over the great final season of 30 Rock, a show they gave the award to three years in a row before the dawn of, you guessed it, Modern Family!), I was ready to give up all hope of something deserved taking Best Drama.

Eh, that was kinda a gimme. The show is going off the air, and everybody knows it's going off the air. A statue this year makes sense as both industry-love-letter and bald advertisement. Plus the competition, I think, was weaker this year than in previous.

Granted, BB was probably overdue a bit .. Nominated three or four times and only won once. This is kinda-sorta similar to the Sopranos, which also won as it was taking a final bow.

Outstanding Drama is a real mixed bag. You go back a half dozen years or so, and they're handing The Practice, of all things, back to back awards.

Yeah. I don't really 'get' the Emmy way of thinking. Jim Parsons has won three times (back to back?) for comedy actor, and while he's good, he's not that good (and frankly, Sheldon Cooper is way too shallow a role to get him this many accolades).

I think the Modern Family wins have less to do with it and more to do with the perceived weakness of the competition. Louie and Girls are both "New York" shows, 30 Rock went off the air, and I'm not sure where Veep's numbers are.

Louis-Dreyfuss, though, now has as many Emmys as Lucille Ball, which is sort startling.

It is eligible again next year, though, which is why it was surprising. I think everyone was expecting them to hold off this year and give it a LOTR-type showing next year, which could still happen.

Yep, which is why I was not surprised by Aaron Paul losing to Cannavale, or Cranston losing (I totally thought it was going to be Spacey over Daniels though). I think they're going to sweep next year.

I thought Banks might get it. And I guess Daniels counts as a movie actor slumming it, which they love to reward, but I was also surprised it wasn't Spacey. Flashier role.

The timing was too good this year; the last season playing out while Emmy was voted on and awarded. Next year a few hardcore fans will still be crowing about BB, but I think it'll be a distant memory it terms of awards.

It's like a movie getting released in January and then sweeping the Oscars. Not outside the realm of all possibility but rare, rare.

Hearing Tony Hale give a shout out to Young Actor's Theatre here in Tallahassee made a bunch of us squeal in delight. That was such a nice gesture.

Cranston has already won it three times for BB (he was also nominated multiple times for "Malcom").

If you look at the history of the award (either drama or comedy), only a handful of actors have won the statue four times for the same role (Dennis Franz in Drama; Carroll O'Connor, Michael J. Fox, and Kelsey Grammer in Comedy).

They don't like streaks, or near streaks. It's like giving Michael Jordan MVP every year. Everybody already knows who the best player is, but saying so over and over again, back to back, gets boring for the audience watching at home.

Tina Fey and Ty Burrell were genuinely not allowed in until they donated to the charity and left their Emmys at the door.
