Yeesh, what a dull movie. I actually like Statham, but this is thoroughly generic, even by his standards. Usually I count on Statham movies to provide fun action scenes, entertaining co-stars, and/or humor. Here there's none of that. I expected more from Hackford, who's made solid material in the past.

didn't hate it, but offers ample pleasures indeed.

This script was so fucked.

1. This is essentially a re-script of Payback, down to the low amount of money sought after and the "principle" angle
2. Parker is so fucked up through the whole movie he doesn't kick nearly the amount of ass as I was expecting
3. Jennifer Lopez's character is so irrelevant to the script, why did they even need her? Or more importantly, why did they even need Parker's love interest? To stitch up his hand that one time?
4. The climax/payoff is something you wait for throughout the entire movie and you know what is going to happen every second of the way.
5. I've loved Jason Statham movies lately, but this feels like one of those weird middle of the road generic Arnold movies in between Predator and Terminator.

So bad. Either as a Richard Stark adaptation or as a Statham vehicle, it fails miserably. And the fact that it's a Stark adaptation makes me angry. He only died in 2008 and was extremely picky with adaptations of his work. Let his corpse rest for at least ten years before you fuck him up the ass.

As do I, Clifton Collins Jr. As do I.

CCJ being in it is motivation for me to watch it.
