Seven Samurai
Dynamite Warrior

i just pull these of the top of my head. not in any order. at first i try to make it diverse, and get stuck at number 7. then i realize woo, cameron, and spilburg need to have more than one film included.

i want to see D's.

8. A Touch of Zen (1969)

Nice. I often wonder if I should have put this higher in my Top 10. If I were making a list of my top 10 martial arts films, It would definitely be on it. It is such a grand and epic experience.

I don't want to put my Top 10 yet, because it gives away a lot of stuff in my Top 100 - which is almost finished....

3. The Blade (1998)

Is this Blade, with Snipes?

I thought maybe it was The Blade (Dao), Tsui's film, but that came out in 95. This film is super high on my top 100. One of the best damn films ever made.

I got to say I'm very surprised not to see T2 on most of theses lists.

It's Tsui's film, naturally. I just put the wrong year.

Very cool. Glad to see some love for this amazing flick. One of the very best. It really demonstrates the amount of dramatic tension and character an action flick can have.

It's a shame it's never been released in a legit, remastered format on DVD. I just can't understand why.

The director is directing a live-action Blood: The Last Vampire. Here's hoping it kicks as much ass.

I hear Corey Yuen is doing the action choreography on Blood, so it will at least have some killer fights.

what i like most about the flick is how it manages to keep its gritty atmosphere through out the whole film. yes, and that scene above.

Yeh, Kiss of the Dragon farkin' rocks.

Tcheky Karyo plays one of the slimiest, most loathesome villains I've seen in years.

I've left out westerns and a few other movies which could possibly be considered "action", but I don't personally consider them as such. I also chose not to put them in any particular order, since I would never stop changing it...

Batman Begins
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Die Hard
The Matrix
Hard Boiled
Sanjuro
First Blood
The Bourne trilogy (can't pick a favorite)
Goldeneye
Indiana Jones 1 & 3 (can't pick one)

Sycophant

Reading through this list, I don't think I have enough of a grasp on the term "action cinema" to be able to put together a list of my own.

Chalk me up as another Kiss of the Dragon supporter. Has the director done anything since then?

Some movie called Empire of the Wolves with Jean Reno in '05.

And Blood: The Last Vampire (http://match-cut.org/showthread.php?t=453), which is currently in post-production.

This thread reminds me that I need to see more Walter Hill, any Tsui Hark (except maybe his recent stuff), and Commando again.

I really want to see Tsui Hark's The Blade.

That movie looks disgustingly awesome. :)

Empire Strikes Back
Natural Born Killers
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Alien/s
Die Hard
300
Scarface
Shaun of the Dead
Face/Off
Run, Lola, Run

Eh, I don't even know where to draw the line for action vs action/drama, on top of that straight action is probably my least favorite genre, so I don't watch much at all for the sole purpose of seeing things blow up and people shooting at one another mindnumbingly.
