I got the idea from the other thread. Please put in order what movies I should watch first in this list. This list is the unwatched DVDs to movies I have never seen. I know some of these movies are rated pretty bad, and I got most of them for free through deals or presents (except for Day Watch becuase I did like Nigh Watch and I know most of you hated it...so :P ). I'll then review them one by one and update this thread.

I assumed it was regarding another pun. But the way I see it, you swing your boner around like that, it's bound to get stuck in someone's craw.

Winston is gonna have his work cut out for him.Technically, he only has four more negative reps to give out. He will have to choose as wisely in how he dispenses them as everyone here has been in devising the puns. So much wisdom...

I think Winston* has taken the crucial first step of normalizing negative repping relations. It's no longer the dirty little secret we keep in our lockers. It's beginning to unfurl its blood-red petals, inexorably pushing towards the sun of unbridled messageboard hostility.

I thought I'd enjoy Rings. I guess I started getting disgruntled when Viggo whooped all the Ring Wraiths in the first one, and it just went downhill from there. I needed a real bad-ass in those movies. I'm gonna try again, but I know I have fun with the Harry flicks.

I saw the first one in the hospital, so I think that may have something to do with me not liking it as much as the 2nd one. I loved that epic battle. The battle in the third one was pretty much a dupe of the 2nd one + dragging out throwing the ring in the pit... man that was painful.

Yeah, Rings is full of certain conceits that don't work, but it's made up with two of the awesomestly awesome battles on film. Potter is full of random magic, deus ex machina, and silly scavenger hunts, making each movie completely repetitive and kind of pointless.
Who's the bad-ass in Potter, by the way?

Ralph Fiennes.
And, honestly, I didn't much care for the uber-battles in Rings. The best part was the suicide bomber.

I feel the same way.
I only really loved the first LOTR - the other two had their moments, but nothing as good as that one.
But the Harry Potter movies have been pretty great all-round. Goblet of Fire was a little hollow and felt like simply a bridge between #3 and #5, but other than that I quite enjoy all of them.

If there is one thing fascinating about ‘futuristic’ films, it is how creative minds perceive the world in the present, how they expect the world to grow or how they want the world to look. In Terry Gilliam’s film Brazil, he perceives an example world filled with a chaotic perception of life, order and happiness.
Sam Lowry (Jonathan Pryce) is stuck in a job he hates, surrounded by people that annoy him in a world that he despises. Working within the Ministry of Information, it is his job to extract information from terrorist suspects as he is constantly being called upon by his boss who displays no backbone in making decisions or dealing with stress. Lowery works day in and day out with only one thing to look forward to; his dreams. Lowery is constantly having dreams of flying through the clouds, rescuing his dream girl from the evil samurai holding her captive. Lowery thinks nothing of his dreams until he comes face to face with the very girl he dreams of. In shock, Lowery makes every attempt to meet this woman, even if it means disobeying the laws of the very system he works for.
The film does a fabulous job displaying this disorderly world where mistakes and errors in the political system will occur, but yet no one wants to take the time to admit the mistakes could even be possible. Robert De Niro’s character is Harry Tuttle, who is the suspected terrorist and the man who should have been arrested in the first 5 minutes of the film, however a mistake in the system arrested Harry Buttle. From what it appears in in the film, the only terrorist acts that Tuttle commits is doing home repairs on civilians air condition units (ducts) without the proper paperwork. De Niro’s character is the quick witted ‘get-things-done’ character and one of the few complaints of the film is how seldom he is on screen. The casting of the film is quite close to perfect as Pryce’s character is very likeable and believable as the movie progresses.
I can’t believe it’s been so long for me to see this film but I am quite happy with the film and can easily see it being in my top 100 all-time. (possibly top 50) I’m already itching to watch it again to see what other crazy effects and visuals I missed.

If you say so, but personally I'm never once thrilled by their use of magic. In particular, the paint-by-numbers tedium of the first two Potters is excruciatingly dull.

Black Sheep 6 has its moments but there are better pairings out there Martin/Candy in Planes trains & automobiles
Brazil 9 Maybe, the greatest cult classic ever
Casablanca 10 Nothing more to say
The Day the Earth Stood Still 9 This film and one other, Forbidden Planet define 50s scifi
Enter the Dragon 6 As far as martial arts films go this is the best but that not might be saying much
House of Flying Daggers Blu-ray (free) 7 Beautiful and exciting but already surpassed
Pearl Harbor Blu-ray (free) 3 left me, mad and whining for lost wages
Pi 8 everything a thriller should be, confusing and genuinely frightening
The Terminal 7 funny well played schmalts
We Were Soldiers 8
Good stuff here, enjoy
