The Mechanic has some gratifyingly hard-R violence and a dedicatedly simmering performance by Foster going for it, but little else. This is the superior picture, the first half hour or so being particularly nifty, after which I suggest you approach the remainder as the equivalent of a really solid DTV action movie and your expectations should be in check.

I was expecting another typical Statham DTV type actioner, and I came away thinking it was the best flick he's made yet. Pro.
