We're pretty fortunate around where I live. The only time people get stupid and forget how to drive is the first couple snows of the year. We don't get dumped on like other states, but we pretty much have snow on the ground from November through March, so our roads are constantly being cleared. But when winter first hits, it's as if everyone forgot that snow existed and they can drive like it's summer. Either that or they go 5 MPH and pump their brakes at every stop.

We have at least 18 inches right now, and it's still snowing. It's supposed to keep snowing at this rate until 1 a.m. We have a snow drift that is up to our bedroom window. It's just crazy. I've lived in Michigan my entire 27 years, and my drive home from work tonight was the worst driving conditions I can remember. Every flake of snow was clinging to the road and my car and turning to ice. I had to do the "roll down the window and snap the wiper" method at least 15 times. Forget the north, we're moving to Phoenix.

It's times like these I'm thankful I'm not in Michigan.

Meantime here in Illinois we got blasted with freezing rain all morning, and it finally did its dirty work around 2 pm when it shifted into hell. My '89 Grand Marquis is, as per usual, frozen shut. I think while I'm working in Ohio over the summer it'll be a smart investment to purchase a newer car that can manage in these conditions. This whole dependence on friends from the uni is getting old, and really slighting my ability to enjoy the evenings wandering around.
