As a ginormous Koreeda fan, I have been holding out hope this was a return to form after the (supposed) disappointment of Airdoll (unseen by me).

About 98% of the acting in I Wish is done by children and I have never seen as interesting and as believable child acting as by the two main brothers in this film.

I liked Air Doll. Lower tier Koreeda, I guess, but one of the stranger things he's done and not without merit - and certainly not the twee film I heard a lot of people calling it. Features world class cinematography from Mark Lee, but that goes without saying.

i wish is quite sublime. now that it's streaming on netflix you should all be watching it.
