I like me some Michelle Monaghan.
She peaked at Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and hasn't shown that level of charisma since. Disappointing, she was fantastic in that and I had high hopes. It seems like she's more interested in trying to hit the A-list. I wish she'd take a step back and take supporting roles in more interesting movies.

Certainly her looks haven't been put to advantage on screen since KKBB. Trucker showed me that she has some legit talent. Otherwise, I think she's been kind of wasted in Eagle Eye and Source Code (which I liked).
She needs a good director. It appears that she isn't in anything for 2012.

So when this draft is finished, I'll do a 2-day add/drop waiver time.
First come first serve. You can only add and drop for the same position. So no subtracting actresses for actors, vice-versa.
Then we'll open a new thread (or perhaps a parttime forum (like the BOTH Characters) and each owner will post their movie in whatever form or word amount they desire. Graphic design, trailer inclusion, script, poem, body art... Have fun with it. Then a random drawing will occur and those movies will be pitted against each other in a deathmatch of fake art.

So you have to drop an actor/actress to get another actor/actress, right? Because I'm fine with my current cast as it is, really.

Mine will have to be just a short pitch writeup as I am not very verbose. Maybe I'll play around with a visual aid as well.

Ivan Drago

I've got a treatment, outline, character bios AND the script which I can upload. But I'll probably just only upload the outline/treatment since the script needs major retooling.

Another rule for the synopsis. You’re not allowed to mention any other actors/actresses in which you may have roles for, who were not included in the draft to draw more attention to your synopsis.

Ok, guys, in all seriousness, I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I got in over my head.
I saw this as a fun little diversion, but with the way everyone is talking, it looks like I'm going to have to come up with more than a one/two paragraph synopsis for my idea.
I don't have the wherewithal to make visual aids, write up treatments, etc.
To be frank, I'm a bit intimidated...if I'd known this was the ideal, I probably wouldn't have joined in the beginning, but I'd feel like a heel dropping out now.
So what exactly are we looking for in this write up? I'm at a loss, especially seeing what others are already planning.

Don’t worry about it Fez. I think we’re using this first draft to feel things out. Yes I’m a little excited about it so I may come off a bit serious and yes I may have put an excel spreadsheet together to cast my movie and yes I may have written 838 words for my synopsis which ended up being an outline of the entire movie rather than a synopsis, but this is still just a fun game.
I think I am just trying to define the draft game so we can streamline it in later drafts.

No worries Fezzik. Some are more passionate then others about their plan. Mine will be no more then a few paragraphs

I, too, don't think I'll work a lot on this draft. I don't have much time and I'm moving... Will soon have no internet connection (only can check at work, and at work, we are overworking!!!).
Also, I don't think I'll write like a synopsis or a script or whatever as anyway Wong Kar Wai never really writes a lot far in advance or he changes his films as they go along :P perhaps I can say it'll be improvised
More seriously, I'll just write up something but surely not as detailed as some of you! Plus my English isn't that great, and takes me some time and concentration to write something very neat.

I think it's my turn...
For my last pick, I choose Haruki Murakami as a screenwriter, even if I doubt the film would follow his writings! But it's more for the "mood".

Drop: David Lynch
Add: Tony Kushner
I know, I know. I'm dropping my #1 pick. But as I was drafting my film, I started to get an idea for what the film will be and Lynch's very specific aesthetic just doesn't fit.
Sooooo ....
Final production team:
Director: Paul Thomas Anderson
Writer: Tony Kushner
Actor: Werner Herzog
Actress: Liv Ullmann
Supporting Actor: Udo Kier
Supporting Actress: Asia Argento

Yes. Just mark them as "uncredited" if unnecessary.
MadMan
03-14-2012, 06:45 AM
So I could have Bill Murray as uncredited even though I didn't draft him? After all, the guy has been in almost all of Wes Anderson's movies. Oh and if we could have drafted one more actress I would have gone with Francis McDormand to play George Clooney's wife.
Plus I just came up with a decent title for my movie, and for some of the soundtrack choices too.

I think having the right people on a project is the most important part of this game. Forcing a project on Lynch that isn't a Lynch project would be very bad. As much as I'd like to see Scorcese make a comic book movie, that just isn't the best use of his talents. :)
