I'm sometimes a guest when I look at match cut on my phone cause I don't log in when I do so.

Also I have a friend who is a full blown lurker. He checks certain threads about every day but has no interest in posting. We talk about those sometimes.

As far as my knowledge, this is the only coherent film discussion forum on the intrawebs. Most people who want to discuss movies are probably not as die hard as the majority of people here and are probably intimated by the level of analysis by some posters. MC consensus is generally very cynical and definitely goes against the grain against the public majority. I mean, Irish has only liked 4 movies in the last 15 years.

Netflix has ruined me.Nah, its a rating system that Barty uses and that I've considered using. My only beef with Netflix using it is that there are no half stars. Gotta have those.

Someone spam whatever they're calling the equivalent of the original Film Discussion Thread at RT these days.It no longer exists. Father Barry, myself, and a couple of others who still posted at RT tried to keep a new version alive, but it died in the end. Naturally GD went back to lesser film discussion soon after wards. The funny thing was how Ringo/Mallory hated on FDT, even though the thread was great and served a higher purpose.

I figure people lurk because the discussions here are interesting to read but perhaps they feel they have nothing to contribute. I felt that way at first and I've been trying to chime in more. I used to do this on the IMDb boards, but that only served to make me dumber.

I often feel the same way. It was only when I decided to make TV my big thing a number of years ago did I finally find a voice here in the TV threads. Now after being here a couple years I feel more comfortable in the movie threads but still don't check them with as much frequency as I do other areas.

Also I was with a friend today and told her about Match-Cut, she signed up, and we shall see if she actually gets into it.

My advice is don't feel beholden to write lengthy reviews of the things you watch, read, etc. You can if you want to but it's not necessary. If you watch a movie and like it say so, if you hate it say so, or at the very least vote in the polls and such.

Okay, I'll post.

I've been around a long, long time (I was more regular on the Axis and first incarnation of the Match-Cut boards), but I simply don't see films in the theater often anymore, and seeing them two years after they were originally released doesn't lend me much to offer in the discussion/rating threads.

But, yeah, I shouldn't be so shy. I should especially hop in on the Buffy thread occasionally since I'm betting I could give even Mara a run for her money on the Buffy obsession meter.

There is virtually no way to see every film when it is a hot topic. Opinions on films are not timely, imo.

No that existed and it was a neat exclusive feature. I lost my login information to that along with all of the reviews I had wrote. I wish I remembered the URL.

And that review site I was talking about may have been a completely different thing that I'm just combining with this forum due to a jumbled memory. I remember they focused on Samurai stuff quite a bit. Lots of reviews by a dude named Braden, that's all I recall.

Rebort offered, in like late 2005, those of us who weren't horror fanatics our own site which he would host and I would admin, so we branched from Axis Archives and formed Match-Cut (.com in those days). When Rebort stepped down as host, this site migrated here and I took over hosting as well. Spun kept the Axis Archives going for a while, but eventually some of that crowd found its way here and some, mostly those you named, sort of drifted away.

Buff is the strange case who did migrate and them got "a life." Shame.
