Gah, this movie put me through the wringer, but it totally earned its surprising tension and sadness.

Anyone know when this is going to be in theatres? Was sick when I had a chance to see it.

Getting a US (NY/LA to start) and VOD Release on October 30th. Just in time for Halloween! It's certainly horrifying to me personally.

This is usually my cup of tea, but I too often found myself removed from this film's world. And while charting the small cracks, elongated silences and innumerable gestures that tear at a relationship is all well and good, there's unfortunately too little to grasp at here. And while the film's "turning point" is respectably minute in stature, I'm not even quite sure that it works as a stand-alone game-changer in this couple's relationship. There is something to be said about the effortless leaps and bounds the narrative takes via said silences and single shots -- it's an admirable film, akin to something from Antonioni or Van Sant's Gerry, but it often substitutes boredom for painstaking insight.

Hmm don't think I meant to give this 5 stars but OK I guess I'll counterbalance the low ratings.

There is so much truth in this film.

Well I liked this - some thoughts I wrote in IMDB because I thought it was getting unfairly bashed:

- Instinctual vs Societal Behavior

I've read other's interpretations and I seem to have one not mentioned much. The theme isn't one about chivalry or sexism or anything like that. It's about our animal instincts as opposed to the persona we act out in society. Our instincts are usually repressed under foundations created by our society. It is rare in the real world nowadays that our instincts are exposed - an extreme event has to occur.

Not only does Alex react instinctively but so does Nica later on when she's kissed. There are actually TWO events in this movie. I think most people concentrate solely on the first because it's one that's rarely portrayed while the latter one has been shown in film many times. Both acts are instinctive and selfish, the film is saying that deep down - hidden by the part that we play for Society's sake, we are selfish animals looking out only for ourselves. That is why we are all fundamentally alone.
