Because we need one. No, scratch that: because I wanted to make one. Also, I jacked this idea from The Corrierino.

I'll kick it off with something I just drew up merely two minutes ago:

The Worst Movies I've Ever Seen:

http://www.badmovies.org/movies/manos/manos1.jpg

1. Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966)
2. I Spit On Your Grave (1978)

6. Pearl Harbor (2001)
7. Faces of Death (1978)
8. Batman & Robin (1997)
9. Anacondas: The Hunt For the Blood Orchid (2004)

Duke Volcano sucks so hard it doesn't even have a proper or good volcano.

Yeh but Jones makes that movie awesome. That volcano only wants you think there will be a good volcano in the movie. The journey is the best part. Plus there is a 1.5 second shot of the volcano at the very end of the movie. That's good enough.

That's good enough. The thing is, if there had been a halfway decent volcano than the movie wouldn't have featured as much awful dialogue, cliched moments, and as much bad acting as it did. I'll give Don Cheadle, Anne Heche and Tommy Lee Jones credit, though-they give it their best shot. Me, I would have phoned it in the minute I realized the movie was crap.

Cool list, trans. I never thought about doing that before.

If I were to make a list of my favorite directors, it would probably only contain five from that list: Anderson, Fincher, Leone, Mann and Powell.

To them, add Allen, Altman (my #1), Peckinpah, Sam Fuller and Billy Wilder. Or something like that.

Sweet.I created this list so that I can refute the fact that despite my dislike of many musicals I don't completely hate the genre. There were many others that could have been featured, too. I still love Cannibal: The Musical. In fact, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are really good at coming up with that sort of thing-if they ever do another movie it should be another comedy musical. And of course there is this amazing song that is my favorite from South Park Bigger Longer and Uncut:

I've sadly never seen a movie from PT Anderson, but that's due to me wanting to go through his filmography from the beginning, and I would have to go back to DVD only/IV for Netflix to be able to rent Hard Eight since I can't find it anywhere else for some reason.

I've only seen JC's The Thing (100), Alien (100), NOTLD (100), The Birds (85), Nosferatu (100), Jaws (100); which Kong Kong do you mean-the 1933 version or the 2005 version? I've only seen the 33 one, which gets a 90. And that's about it. Good list there.

Typically if a movie didn't make a list of mine and its either famous or well regarded, there is a good chance I didn't see it. Of course in the case of The Sound of Music or Grease there is also the possibility that I really didn't like it at all.

For whatever reason, the rather random idea of listing ten movies from ten different countries, all under two hours in length (brevity being the soul of wit and all), popped into my head. Not necessarily the best movie, maybe just something I've been thinking a lot about lately. It proved a surprisingly challenging and fun exercise:

Argentina: The Holy Girl (Martel)
Belgium: The Son (Dardennes)
France: Contempt (Godard)
Hong Kong: In the Mood for Love (Wong)
Japan: Hana-Bi (Kitano)
Russia: The Mirror (Tarkovsky)
Sweden: Persona (Bergman)
Thailand: Tropical Malady (Weerasethakul)
UK: Dr. Strangelove (Kubrick)
USA: Punch-Drunk Love (Anderson)

Movies I've walked out on (or would have if I had not been with friends), in chronological order.

Cool World (1992)
Timecop (1994)
Stargate (1994)**
Spawn (1997)
Lost in Space (1998)
Mr. Deeds (2002)
The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
Electra (2005)
Alice in Wonderland (2010)
War Horse (2011)**

** - Actually walked out on

A note about Stargate. I've actually come to like the film quite a bit, but when I saw it in theaters, I remember being in a particularly bad mood and every little thing about it annoyed me. I blame myself for that one, not the film.

I still have Amistad to watch. I've saw probably half of it when it first came out, but I haven't been able to muster up the courage for the whole thing.
