View Full Version : Upcoming Horror Part XIII

We've got people posting upcoming horror stuff in the Sangre thread in the General Forum because if it's posted to the General Upcoming thread it usually goes ignored. And there are definitely numerous horror flicks out there undeserving of their own threads. So, I thought I'd give this a try, especially since there are number of us horror fans on the forum.

To begin.

Clive Barker has slammed the upcoming Hellraiser movie, which I thought was supposed to be a remake. Looks like another crap DTV title, though.

Looks pretty awful.

As far as I know, the reboot is still happening. It's just that they had to put out a Hellraiser film this year or the rights revert back and they won't be able to make that big budget Hellraiser movie that's still in pre-production.

They actually screened this in ONE THEATER back in March. It's just to meet a contractual quota. I don't think this thing should even count as a real movie.

A remake of any of the Troll movies couldn't be any worse than the originals.

I've learned over time that BD is stingy about their images. I got this pic from Google Images and it just so happened to be tied with BD. It shows as blocked for me too now.

MadMan

You guys think they make the withdrawal? At the end of the movie, they'll survive it all, then as they leave realize that they failed to take money out, which is why they went there in the first place. Then of course the killer pops up from the backseat, and they all scream. Cue credits.

Also I have to add that the ATMs I always use are at a bank, and they have cameras. So at least if some psycho murders me while I'm making a withdrawal, it'll be captured for posterity.

PS: This movie reminds me that I did have an idea for a film where a guy hitchhikes, makes the guy driving him take him to the ATM to withdraw a couple of dollars, then murders him and takes off. Then I realized it was impractical, not realistic, etc....I guess whoever made "ATM" had a better idea, at least.

Well duh. They cut the power to the ATM, blocked the door with the car and filled it with freezing water. :lol:And despite that, I bet at least one person makes it out alive. But the killer won't be dead, of course. Even in slasher movies that never had sequels the killer often doesn't die. I'll be expecting ATM 2: Withdraw This sometime in the near future if the first ATM movie is a success. Or that won't matter: there have been three Wrong Turn sequels.

Eli Roth has written a movie called "Aftershock'! that revolves around a prison break during an Earthquake. It's being directed by Nicolas Lopez.

a visual effect supervisor, makes his debut as director on the movie. "'Diaries' is set in the city of Prypiat that once housed the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor and follows a group of friends who, while vacationing in Europe, find themselves stranded in the abandoned city only to discover that they are not alone." As previously announced, Jonathan Sadowski (Friday the 13th), Devin Kelley, Jesse McCartney ("Locke & Key" pilot), Olivia Taylor Dudley, Nathan Phillips (Wolf Creek, Dying Breed, Snakes on a Plane), Ingrid Bolso Berdal (Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters 3D, Cold Prey) and Dimitry Diatchenko all star

Tobe Hooper has directed a middle eastern horror film titled Djinn, set to be released later this year.

Synopsis: "DJINN tells the nightmarish story of a young Emirati couple who return home from the U.S. and discover that their new apartment in a luxury high-rise built on the site of an abandoned fishing village is also home to the malevolent beings known as Djinn."

In Ole Bornedal's THE POSSESSION, one such spirit takes control of a young girl (Natasha Calis), which leads to all manner of calamity for her already fractured family (the separated parents are played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick). It's produced by Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert, and written by the team of Juliet Snowden and Stiles White (who were recently assigned to the POLTERGEIST remake)

"I'd like to make another horror movie, I'm writing one with my brother right now. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm beginning to think I should not have said anything because I don't want to start looking at it from the outside and looking at it analytically. So, we're going to keep writing it. It's a very simple story about a character, we're trying to figure out what they want, it's all of the basic stuff—how they come involved with this darker force. There's nothing much to tell [yet], I've got a three-page treatment we're working off of right now."

I can see how they were able to do a prequel, and even a remake, but the fact that there were multiple sequels after the first film is just proof that Hollywood tries to milk anything and everything for a quick buck. I was looking at the poster and went: "Well, if they made a sequel to it maybe it has some value after all. I should watch it."

Then I went to bed. I am fine now. There really is nothing more annoying than completely insular indie horror movie hype.

Look up things like "Smiley" or "Bunnyman" and prepare to roll your eyes.

Wow, those looked wretched.

Imagine honing your skills during acting classes for several years only to have to utter the words "You don't understand, Smiley's trying to get me."

Here's the trailer for the new Paranormal Activity 4 trailer, in case anyone cares:

Professor John Venkenheim leads a documentary film crew to the rim of the Arctic Circle in a desperate effort to vindicate his academic reputation. His theory: Mary Shelley's ghastly story, "Frankenstein," is, in fact, a work of non-fiction disguised as fantasy.

Stupidest premise of all time? Wonder if this non-fiction Frankenstein has still read Milton.

Army of Darkness 2?

Bruce Campbell: "The last one was 22 years ago. I just haven’t been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I use to be busy. Now I’m not. That’s why I’m here. . . Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath. Maybe we could do that, I guess. That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. That would be alright. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie. I like it. . . Alright sir, the answer is yes."

It's been more than a decade ago, but if I remember correctly, the two sequels to the original Japanese book Ringu are more sci-fi than horror; they kinda blew my mind by how each sequel imposes another layer of reality on top of the previous one(s). Have always thought it'll be interesting if they adapt that.

(There's also an anthology book which contains a Ring short story; that one is horror and pretty eerie)

A possible Bloodborne adaptation is tantalizing, but it has a lot of elements that would seem to lend themselves to large-scale set and design and effects work, so if it is that, it's quite surprising that it's been kept so secret. Makes me think it's something else.
