The prequel will probably suck. As the previous installments of I Am Legend (and even the current one) displayed, the whole "How the virus started/was spread" really doesn't warrant an entire movie. A few simple flashbacks are more than enough to explain everything.

I think it would be pretty cool to see how SMith's character came to having is routine life... and it could show events on how he knew to put steel plating around the windows, and why he puts down vinegar on the steps and how he came to know they could remember his scent.... stuff like that.

A deal was made with Arash Amel to write the script. The film is not being called a prequel, which had been rumored for the past few years. But clearly Warner Bros sees
