I always find this response baffling. The third act is what makes the film worthwhile.

The last third is what changes a cerebral sci-fi film into a slasher movie.

The last third is what changes a cerebral sci-fi film into a slasher movie.

The third act is the culmination of the thematic content of the film and the ambiguous premise. It's not out of place or unexpected. That confrontation is what makes the film decent.

An ending I didn't expect: Sunshine

Didn't expect the last third of the movie and basically HATED the last third of the movie.

True this!

Day 51: A MOVIE WITH AN ENDING YOU HADN'T EXPECTED:

I had a very hard time coming up with one for this. There are the obvious choices (The Sixth Sense, The Crying Game) but I think the movie whose ending gave me the biggest "WTF" on first viewing was A.I.: Artificial Intelligence

God, this could be any of the mainstream horror crap I've seen in the past decade, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say The Amityville Horror with Ryan Reynolds because I haven't seen it since it came out and my still-lingering distaste must be twice the irrational now.

Yeah, it would've been a bit baffling if it hadn't won best original screenplay.

Yeah, it would've been a bit baffling if it hadn't won best original screenplay.Well I forgot about that, but still it should have ruled the 1942 Oscars. Damn William Randolph Hearst.
