Hasn't everyone been interpreting this category as "artistically inspiring" more than in some personal way? I think Death Proof's a real masterwork. Or I've just always dreamed of gang-banging a perv with my gurls.
Even so, what do you say is artistically inspiring about it then?

Yes and no. I didn't pick The Mirror in particular of Tarkovsky's work because it best displays his craft, but because I feel it best relays his fascination with nature and the ethereal in the real. A gust of wind, in the instance in the video I posted, is inspiring if only by its timing. It's somehow reassuring.

Even so, what do you say is artistically inspiring about it then? It's a really ambitious, highly conceptual work. It has ridiculously exquisite cinematography, and the crash scene is one of (maybe the) most audacious things I've seen in the past decade.

A gust of wind, in the instance in the video I posted, is inspiring if only by its timing. It's somehow reassuring. Totally, it's a beautiful film. A peaceful, reassuring film probably would have been best for this day... Death Proof definitely doesn't have much in that regard, but I can certainly say its tenderness and candidness about gendered inequalities and victimhood give it that bottom line, humanist inspirational quality.

24. Movie with your favorite soundtrack - For All Mankind

Documentary filmmaker Al Reinert commissioned Brian Eno to write the score for this film. Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks was the result. One of the most sampled songs from this soundtrack is Eno's An Ending (Ascent).

Are we differentiating between soundtrack and score?
I should have been clearer. Eno was comissioned by Reinert to produce an album of music, based on the theme of the Apollo missions, that he could then use as accompaniment in his film. So, no, Eno did not produce a scene-specific score per se, he merely produced the soundtrack from which the filmmaker used excerpts. Scoring was a poor choice of words on my part.

Soundtrack - Trainspotting
Interestingly enough, one of Eno's songs from Apollo (Deep Blue Day) is featured on the Trainspotting soundtrack. :)

I have a few dozen good answers for this, but because I feel like Ford never gets any real appreciation for his technical abilities, I'm gonna go with She Wore a Yellow Ribbon:

Well, I guess he does get praise for shooting Monument Valley, but does anyone ever really take him into consideration for his ability to truly frame and stage a shot? Anyway, I was more referring to his abilities in general as opposed to being just that guy who shot films in Monument Valley a lot.

Right, yeah. I think those are great shots. The first and third being particularly iconic. Those two also happen to be recurring images in his filmography, so he was staging nearly identical shots for many years before that film. The mother seeing her kin off to war, and his melancholy use of doorways are rather trenchant and evocative images for Ford. It just feels like the location he used a mere 9 times throughout an incredibly prolific career gets more praise than his talent shooting it.

Perhaps this hasn't been selected because its too obvious. Anyways, Apocalypse Now (1979) not only features amazing use of color, but the scenery is great, too. Originally I would have gone with LOTRs, but I already used that answer. Really any clip would do, honestly, although I guess this montage set to music from the movie does the job, I guess. My favorite use of scenery is probably when Lt. Willard and Chef encounter the tiger in the jungle, actually.

Several picks fit this category. However, this film takes the cake just because its beyond a guilty pleasure. Jon Vought's terrible accent. J-Lo clearly being miscast. Ice Cube doing his own thing, which is awesome. The CGI, which was dated the minute it was featured in the movie. All leading up to one craptastic, cheesy, entertaining movie.

Yes there are a number of qualifiers for this category. However I've decided to go with Jaws from The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker. He's indestructible, can crush people's necks with his teeth and chew threw steel. Sure he goes good in the end, but that was only because Bond used super extreme strength charisma to convince him that his employer was going to screw him over.

How is this dude a hero? Literally the first thing he does is rape a woman, and it's downhill from there.

I didn't know we were using the term literally. I thought we were using it as a stand-in for protagonist, same as villain for antagonist, but I guess I was wrong.
