It's action-adventure comedy-drama science-fiction-fantasy. This season is kicking ass and was pretty much ignored in the Cutties... so I'm having some fun pretending to be River.

The first five seasons are available on Netflix Streaming. The first season takes a little while to get going, but the payoffs are pretty much incredible.

I'm Captain Jack Harkness. River Song has asked that I take charge of the Cutties for the next several categories, and I agreed. Because I love taking charge. I'm a take-charge kind of guy. (Besides, River and I are old friends. She has my gun, you know.)

I was avoiding the Cutties up until now, because Torchwood didn't have a qualifying season this year, but the more I think about it, I'm easily the best-suited host. Look at how dashing and charming I am!

I was stunned that not a single episode of Justified was nominated in that category.

I think a show like Justified will have trouble in a single-episode category because it's remarkably consistent. It's rare to have one particular stand-out episode. And "Bloody Harlan", which was the biggest and showiest episode, had some weak writing towards the end which doomed it.

By the way, I actually had to research to double check that it's Louis C.K. but the show is called Louie. Confusing.

It's pretty easy. You probably just need a basic video editing program and the website that'll download the youtube clip for ya. That's all I did for the "Matchies."

I wanted to do more, but, I didn't have the time to assemble a series of clips like what some people do.

Although I can safely assume that Tree of Life is going to be nominated for Best Picture I think... :) Probably gonna win it, unless Scorsese's 3D Kids movie ends up as a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that I predict it'll be.

I really ought to watch Breaking Bad.

I think next year we ought to do just a best episode for each genre rather than separate writing and directing awards. Like someone said earlier, I think it's really hard to tell the difference between the two as far as what makes the episode great, given that, despite having many different directors, the style of a TV show stays pretty much the same week to week. It's really a writer's and executive producer's medium.

Which is probably why Dame Maggie Smith was the only one who was singled out. She had a showy role and made it easy to standout. I had a soft spot for the actress who played Anna, she became the heart of the show for me by the end.

I've been away for a few days, so just got to read through the second half now. So to rightly echo everyone else: Great work, Mara!

It may help that I loved almost all the nominees I'd seen, but it was fun to see so many great individual shows / episodes / people (and variety between them) spread across the categories. Now I just need to sit down and watch Sherlock, Mad Men, Downtown Abbey, Luther, Mildred Pierce and the last few episodes of Party Down and Boardwalk Empire to have a more complete opinion on all of this.
