Trailer (http://twitchfilm.com/news/2011/03/gorgeous-full-trailer-for-makoto-shinkais-children-who-chase-lost-voices.php)

Synopsis:

The story centers on Asuna, a girl who spends her solitary days listening to the mysterious music emanating from the crystal radio she received from her father as a memento. However, she embarks on a journey of adventure to meet a boy again, and thus comes to know the cruelty and beauty of the world, as well as loss.

This was supposedly released already in Japan on May 7th. Looks stunning. Cannot freakin' wait.

I love how it's random scenes with short "WTF?!" sequences thrown in between. I can't wait.

Looks like there's a bit more action in this one, should be good. Shinkai is a wonderful animator but his films could use a bit more narrative tension. This should help. I don't think it would detract from his moods or the beauty of the visuals at all.

Not a shitty-looking Hollywood blockbuster? GTFO.

This was very good, probably Shinkai's best film and likely a top 20 anime of all time, not sure if it's quite top 10 material.

Sweet. I'd had it on my hard drive for months, but never got around to it. I'll grab it again soon.

I loved it. It's the ultimate love song to Ghibli and Miyazaki films, and one of the most beautiful anime films I've seen.

Someone want to make a thread in the 2012 forum? I don't know if it will even get a US release but I imagine many of us who are dying to see it will do so through means not at a theater.

It is definitely worth talking about in some depth.

What do you want to talk about, about it? I agree I just can't think of anything offhand to start up the conversation.

Well, for instance, the thing I perhaps liked the most about it is how the most beautiful and imaginative details are always somehow at the edges of the story, almost out of sight. The film never dwells on them, but I was constantly finding myself thinking and fantasizing about stuff like some distant ruin the characters are shown passing by for a few seconds, or the meaning of the colors and shapes on the clothing of cultures shown. I found it an invigorating experience.
