Counter programming to Stranger Tides. :P

It's a short doc about (fashion) photographer Bill Cunningham. Immensely interested in seeing this now.

It's pretty great, one of the best recent docs. Clear-eyed and moving portrait of an obsessive with a democratic eye; pretty fail-safe subject.

Apparently one of NickGlass's friends was dissed in person by BC for his fashion sense. I lol'd.

Yeah, it was at an artists gala at the Brooklyn Museum. Bill said, "Looks like someone left their fashionable wear at home." I later told me friend, "That's hilarious because he thought you actually had fashionable wear at home."

As for the documentary--it was a huge smash in NYC, frequently selling out for weeks--and, yes, it's a pleasant and thoughtful observation of a very pleasant and thoughtful soul. The thesis of his democratic photography is pushed a bit hard (it's an astute comment, but it's quite apparent and needlessly repeated throughout), but the majority of the film is devoted to clear focus on Bill as a gentle soul.

Did anyone else feel a little bit sad for him when watching this? Esp during the candid interview segments towards the end?
