So I finally paid the price for not keeping the vBulletin version up-to-date. The server I use was upgraded to PHP 5.3 and our vBulletin version does not support that. I have had them run us through an old version of PHP for now... but I'm going to have to eventually get the newest vBulletin version.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Is that expensive? We could probably have a little fund-raiser.

Is that expensive? We could probably have a little fund-raiser.

For vBulletin 4.0, it is $195 for the basic version, $285 for the version with lifetime tech support. When the time comes to upgrade, I probably will need to ask for some donations, mainly because the server costs are increasing as well given that we have almost used up our current allowed disk space.

Set up a PayPal account and let us know. My bet is that most people wouldn't mind giving a little to defray costs, even if it's only $10-20. Seeing how having the site down for twelve hours had me breathing into a paper bag.

Yeah, we did it when we migrated here as well. I like having this be a wholly free site so I never really wanted to upgrade to 4.0 (though it was laziness that kept me from upgrading in the 3.0 version which would have probably avoided this). But, I think we can only stay out-of-date so long.

Yep - I'll donate, too.

I thought maybe MC was hit by a virus or something, because one of the other forums I go to has become totally infected with that Win 7 Security 2011 virus.

Got hit with that yesterday. Luckily, I system restored before it deleted all of my restore points.

I'll definitely throw in some $$ to keep this place running.

Thanks for all your hard work, Raiders.

Thanks for letting us know what happened.

And please let us know when the fund raising begins.

Same here! Is there a Facebook thread around here? I don't know how else I would keep in touch with people anymore.

We still have the Wiki (not that anyone uses it). If the problem had persisted, I would have posted an announcement there.

Kicking in $10.00 shouldn't be a problem. Man I was worried the site was dead for good. I have a few other places I post at, but they aren't as cool as here (although the Corrrerino or however in hell you spell it is quite nice). Not going back to full time posting at RT, that's for sure.

OKay, is it a coincidence that you, KF and myself have customized wall photo collages?

Hot Damn, we might be related somehow. Considering we have the same last name, you currently live in the town I was born in and you were born in one of the towns I lived in. Creepy. Also:

We probably are. Have you traced your line back to the first three Fairbanks brothers that came to Boston?

The old ancestral home is now a museum.

Indeed, I even went to one of the family reunions there and met some of my 10th cousins. :D I even have a shirt. I come through the line of artists. Avard to John B all the way up to the first Jonathan. One of my uncles also a Jonathan is on the board of directors there. But the funny thing about Tucson is that most of that part of the family lived in the surrounding areas for a long while, my dad grew up in Thatcher and had many cousins in Tucson as well.

Uh oh, now you're putting me on the spot. I'm not remembering which brother I'm descended from. :D

The Fairbanks side of my family is actually from the Rochester, New York area. It's my mom's side that lives in Arizona.

Yeah we're probably a bit further then as it's my dad's side which is AZ and UT but it's only coincidence on the Rochester part since I was born when my mom was going to Eastman School of Music.

I guess right around the same time Raiders gets a new home theatre system, amirite?
