This trailer has been out for a while, but it's funnier than pizza guy hostage situations and Freaky Friday with two guys who are exactly the same.

From the director of Walk Hard and Orange County: Red Band Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDW0Icf9Ddo).

Yeah of all the "adult" comedies this summer, this one looks to be the funniest.

About time Cameron Diaz does a comedy that actually works for her.

I rather see the pizza movie.

Bah. Diaz's delivery of "hey, fucker" is spot on. To what, I'm not sure. But it is.

Gotta agree with the consensus here. This looks no funnier than the other two trailers.

I love Jason Segal so much and he chooses so many bad projects. How can I effectively crush on him if I don't want to see the stuff he's in?

Except for The Muppets, of course. That goes without saying.

What comedies do you enjoy, Qrazy?

The Russian ones where a lot of people die and are miserable.

Tampopo
My Friends
Big Deal on Madonna Street
Holy Grail
Kin Dza Dza
Shaun of the Dead
Royal Tenenbaums
Lots of others including less cinematic just silly ones like Stephen Chow films.

Does this have a connection to Bad Santa or are they just ripping off the title?

She also seems like one of the most vile and unlikable protagonists in a main-stream comedy that I've seen in quite some time.

I don't know how they're going to pull off the inevitable "she changes and now you should love her!" twist at the end.

Looks like they might go the... 'Yeah she's a huge fucking bitch but her teaching methods do work and she's hot as balls!' route.

And we all know, being hot is what matters!

Being hot AND smart is what will matter. For women.

But Jason Segal gets the girl, so being ugly and slightly dumb will be okay, so long as you just keep on bugging her.

Yes, I thought about that.

I thought about the fact that it really bothers me to have a female lead who is shallow, bitchy, manipulative, and obsessed with her own looks and finding a man to provide for her. And I thought, why do these sort of comedies always hate women?

But then I thought about "these sort of comedies" and how the male leads are always immature, sex-obsessed manchildren with a fear of commitment, hatred and fear of fatherhood, and serious alcohol and substance abuse problems.

And I thought, they don't hate women. They hate people. And then I felt better.

Agreed. Bad Santa with a terrible cast. (an unpleasant person in a role where they are obligated to be pleasant...how funny!!)

HEy let's have Cameron Diaz say a bunch of crude things. Oh and let's have her smoke pot! YEh that'll be wicked funny!

I disagree that this is a terrible cast besides Diaz of course. It just doesn't look very funny.

I hadn't thought of Bad Santa as an inspiration. This film doesn't look like a tenth the film Bad Santa is.

Also looks way more troubling in terms of its sexual politics.

I always get the sense that these male characters are supposed to be considered kind of adorable and sympathetic with their resistance to adulthood, even if they get domesticated in the end. Their female counterparts, however, seem universally reviled and vilified.

There are some that don't like her, but they never can really explain why. You might be on to someone.

With that, I would like to see what she could do with something R-rated though. Please, no more Date Night.

I hated her in Paul. She does push it a little bit in Paul, but I thought she played enough "role" to even out the ratio to "schtick."

There's probably lots of close-minded young comedy-viewers (and crazy teenage fangirls) out there who hate her for taking prime Gen Y comedy stylings time away from Andy Samberg.

Wiig is pretty annoying. Though I'm basing that comment largely on the last thing I saw her in, which was Paul, in which she was pretty annoying.

Since we don't have a thread for it, I'll just comment in here. Looks funny. Also looks like the Hangover only with women... they even have a Zach Galifianakis chick.

Timberlake is definitely testing the boundaries of the types of characters he can play. (Aside from the music aspect shown in the trailer)

Awwww he won't get a chance to say "dawg" in this role... bummer.

I am excited about Bad Teacher. It looks like Bad Santa in a school. I think it’s an interesting turn for Cameron Diaz. I think she’s funny, and I think there’s going to be, like, interesting fucked-up chemistry between her and Timberlake because they used to do it. And not to put my ever-present feminist hat on, but I feel like it’s cool to see a woman playing a dark, irredeemable character. I heard that in the movie she’s trying to get a boob job. That’s, like, her hero’s journey. That’s awesome.

And she won an Oscar.

Until I re-read the quote and saw that you were quoting Cody, I thought you were quoting another Cutter from earlier in the thread and was like "Wait..when did Cameron Diaz win an Oscar?"

As for the movie...I kinda wanna see it, but I'm not sure yet.

This was unbelievably bad. I don't know what it is about Diaz. She's played unlikeable characters before. She's done plenty of comedy. But when she has to carry a movie, it's just a train wreck.

The movie is uneven, the characters are shallow and broadly drawn, and the jokes just aren't funny.

I don't know what they were going for here. Maybe a kind of Election, but with lots of obvious, crude humor.

The whole movie is tone deaf and a waste of what would be, in another movie, a pretty good cast.

I struggled to get through all 90 minutes. The only bright spots were Jason Segel occasionally showing up, playing the only human in a school full of cartoons, and the costume designer"s decision to dress Diaz in a never ending series of severely tight skirts.
