Detroit gets a Robocop statue? Is that pure tomfoolery or pure awesomeness? (Pure awesomeness, obviously.)
What about your state/city? What statue(s) would you like to see in your hometown?
I would like to see a statue of a woodchipper, with Steve Buscemi's legs sticking out of the top. Inscription, "Is dat yer friend in deh woodchipper, dere?"

I'd like a statue in NYC of the Cloverfield monster.

I want to tear down the Statue of Liberty and put up a giant gold statue of Brad Bird in its place.
Everyone must bow to it at the chime of every hour.

This is almost as cool as the Bruce Lee statue in Bosnia:

Rocky statue in Serbia:

but it can't touch this:

Actually, Minneapolis does have a Mary Tyler Moore statue. I like my woodchipper idea better, though. :D
I wonder if Santo Poco has a statue of Dusty, Lucky, and Ned.

I don't think the planet is cool enough for that statue.

Wouldn't, uh, Fargo be a better place for the woodchipper statue?

New York should have a Woody Allen statue.
Not in the streets or a park or anything. It would be in some guy's apartment.

Baltimore is crying out for this statue:

It would have to be topless Madonna pouring candle wax on Willem Dafoe.

I guess I'll have to settle for Jean-Claude Van Damme doing the splits on a bench in the park.

My "hometown" is Miami, since that's where I was born. What statue would go there?
Crocket and Tubbs, maybe?

Yeah, for sure. However, it must be a color statue. Those pastels must be present.
Baltimore obviously needs a statue of The Wire or Homicide. I'm thinking a sort of diorama by the Inner Harbor of at least McNulty, Moreland, Daniels, Munch, Pembleton and Giardello.

Truly, Baltimore just needs one of John Waters.

I want to get my picture taken next to that.
I live in Cedar Rapids, and we just had a movie made with Ed Helms coming here and getting into wacky hijicks. So I guess a statue of him, I suppose? As for the state, well a statue of Kevin Costner for Field of Dreams, of course.

My hometown already has an unintentional Pink Flamingos monument:

It even emits a spray, making it look more like steaming dogshit.

As a resident of Detroit, I think this is awesome. After I read this I found out they're taking donations to fund the statue, and they now actually have more than is needed to pull it off.
And, while Robocop is the cooler statue, Axel Foley may be a bit more appropriate, seeing as how that film was actually filmed in Detroit and he wore a Mumford shirt throughout the movie.

Unfortunately, the movie wasn't even shot in Cedar Rapids.

Unfortunately, the movie wasn't even shot in Cedar Rapids.Heh, I know. That was due to the state's film commission being investigated and shut down because of fraud. I heard some shots from the city make it into the movie. It wouldn't be hard for them to fake the US Cellular Center, or the fucking stupid metal tree in the middle of downtown, which unfortunately the flood did not carry away in 2008.
