I'll see it. Looks more entertaining than any Transformers movie.

Appearing in this film has to be some kind of punishment for Wolverine.

Yes, it does.

Transformers 1 and 2 looked terrible from the start.

The teaser for 3 looks neat, but really, I don't see how the third movie could suddenly, miraculously be good.

This looks fun, but I want Hugh Jackman to bring his career back to more challenging, different stuff ala The Fountain and The Prestige. 2006 was a great year for Jackman.

Aw man. A smart ass kid leads to his redemption? Gag.

2006 was a great year for Jackman.

Yes it was.

The ad they just aired for this during the NBA Finals was one of the worst I've ever seen on mainstream television. That's not hyperbole.

Why does anyone care about a robot's redemption? Srsly?

This is going to flop so bad.

This is going to flop so bad.

I was going to say the same thing.

I decided to skip out on a test screening of this, but everyone I know who went (most of who tend to be quite discerning) said it was as good as it had any right to be. I still don't have any desire to see it, but apparently it's not exactly bad.

Reviews seem to say this is (like eternity said) not half bad.

I was expecting like an 2% Tomatometer rating, but it has 56%, and the consensus seems to be that it's a pretty decent Hollywood popcorn flick.

Still no desire at all to see it.

Been looking forward to this one for a while, and I'll finally be seeing it on Monday. Can not wait!

I laughed my ass off at the preview, but it might be a decent rental in the future.

I'd say this movie is serviceable. Extremely cliché, but somewhat fun. Jackman's performance helps make the ridiculous premise somewhat believable. And while the kid is slightly more tolerable than I expected, he is still probably the worst part. The rest of the supporting cast is fun. Some cringe-worthy moments, but compared to everything else Shawn Levy has done, it's a masterpiece.

I definitely won't say go and see this immediately, but it's worth a shot if you're willing to accept a world where boxing robots are a huge deal. Kids should love it.

So this was a pleasant little surprise. I mean, its not Top 20 list worthy or anything like that, but I went in expecting a "so bad its good" experience and instead got a legitimately decent movie.

If nothing else, this movie proves Jackman can flat out carry a film. It shouldn't work at all, and yet it does. I found myself caring about Atom when he was in the ring, which is something I thought was impossible (and still feel is somewhat preposterous).

The kid was not nearly as bad as I'd heard. He was a kid. He wasn't Chloe Moretz but he wasn't Jake Lloyd either (although the resemblance to Lloyd threw me a bit).

Not even the dancing scene bothered me all that much.

In closing, Evangeline Lilly has wonderful legs.

Agreed with everything you said, but mostly this.

Oh man was this awful. Some of the decent reviews made me curious, but this is one of the worst films of the year.

I just hated the kid in this. Hated hated hated. Literally from his very first scene. And he did this vacillating between being pouty and angry and then he's all zen calm and Yoda-like in his belief that the robot can win. Obnoxious either way. I think I just hate about all child performances I see in a movie. I think the last one that I liked was Haley Joel Osment in The Sixth Sense.

Hugh Jackman wasn't much better here. Kind of an idiot. I was already shaking my head a few minutes into the movie when he loses a match because he's not even watching what's going on in the ring (robot vs. bull; distasteful). It's an ugly world he works in and when he's assaulted by a promoter in front of his kid, the little brat gets all angry when the Jackman character has a bout of sanity and wants to hand over custody to the aunt because he shouldn't be seeing that sort of thing. "I want you to fight for meeeee!" he whines. Uh, he was doing exactly that. Literally. He was literally fighting the promoter and his two guys because they put his hands on the kid.

Kind of funny because they sort of had a fighting robot in the truck literally right next to where this all happened. Did no one think to start that thing up and rip these guys apart?

The internal consistency of this future world also did not make sense. Why are there underground robot bouts? Can anyone just scrape a robot together? Yet they still cost thousands of dollars. How can the bums afford it? Why have voice activated commands when it slows response time?

How can Atom use his shadow function with Charlie in the final round with Zeus when he's not even looking at him?

Just bad all around. When they introduced the designer of the Zeus robot, he looked so serious I burst out laughing in the theater.

I love it. It's not great cinema or anything, but I am sucker for this kinda father-son-relationship movie.

Looks like it's popcorn movie night for me. This made $300 mil WW.

Sucker here as well. I thought this worked great as a sports movie; the conflict is the only thing I was annoyed about. "I can't, I can't..." What, you can't pretend to fight like a boxer again in front of a stadium full of people? Yes you can.
