I could listen to these guys talk about anything -- but here, 5 minutes, damn, I wish that this was longer.

That's cool. Great thoughts and advice for young critics. I know the best reviews I've written were the most first person personal.

I miss the good old days of Siskel and Ebert. Too bad Siskel's dead and Ebert's vocal cords have been lost to cancer

That is really good. I never read much of Siskel, but Ebert is one of my favorite writers. I love his direct, conversational approach. His writing possesses many of the same qualities as Stephen King's does. They both employ relatively simple styles, and yet each author conveys a great deal of personal inflection and emotional depth. There are good reasons why these two authors have connected with such a wide audience - they're populist authors with depth and substance and they don't come off as sounding like they have anything to prove to anyone.
