Shall we?
Submit your five favorite films from this year and in a week I will give you a top ten. IMDb dates will be used.
The point system is as follows
1st Place-5 points
2nd Place-4 points
3rd Place-3.5 points
4th Place-3 points
5th Place-2.5 points
There will be no restrictions on short films. A minimum of three films must be listed. You may edit your post freely up until the time that the voting is closed, which will be in about a week. I will give at least 24 hours warning before tallying votes.
You may begin now.

I guess that makes Ponyo 2008, then (sidenote: I... kinda preferred the English dubbing. Can't deny the cuteness of Miley Cyrus' little sister's voice). And Coraline isn't as good as Antichrist (because you know, they're so comparable). You lucked out this time, Von Trier.

Looking at the films I have seen from 2009, I've always had the impression that it was a pretty terrible year. I was hoping to get recommendations from your lists in this thread to help rectify that.....but I think I was right the first time. Most of you are listing movies I've already seen and meh'd. I mean, any year that can have Bad Lieutenant listed so often is not one for the ages.

I've seen 7/10 of the consensus list. Cool. I'm down with IB being #1, if only because its one of my favorites from last year.

Now you know who to blame.
Hmm. Could've sworn dd gave it an 8.5 at one stage. Could've sworn his name didn't come up in a browser-find too. In conclusion, I suck.

Maybe you should blame the directors for not making their films better? You could also blame the fact that most of us out in the sticks haven't had the opportunity to see them, or the fact that the films that did make the list were all extremely well promoted (obviously some better than others, Bright Star and Moon being welcome anomalies--although it's nonetheless relevant that both are English language features with stars that are easily classifiable according to genre, which translates into a bigger release, better promotion relatively speaking, and a better chance that people have at least heard of them).
