His next project after RE Afterlife. Yes it's in 3D.

Ray Stevenson, Luke Evans and Matthew Macfadyen have been cast as the three Musketeers: Porthos, Athos and Aramis

Milla Jovovich is also in it.

His movies are fun.

Hahaha. No she's Milady.

D'artagnan is Logan Lerman and i guess Orlando Bloom is the Duke.

Isn't Christoph Waltz playing Richelieu in this?

We'll see. I have more of his stuff to see. Really, I'm mostly taken with RE: Afterlife. Though I do still have some fondness for the first RE film and Event Horizon.

EDIT: Oh, and Mortal Kombat.

There's a scene in that trailer that reminds me of the laser hallway scene in Resident Evil.

Huh, looks kind a cool.

But for the love of GOD trailer-making-people, PLEASE, PLEASE linger on an image for more then 1.5 seconds.

If "filmed in 3D" means he's going to over-abuse slow motion like he did in the last Resident Evil, then no thanks.

Snyder's one of the few who knows how to utilize slow motion in a way that keeps the action intense and engaging. Resident Evil: Afterlife was a prime example of how not to use it, leaving me bored and rolling my eyes.

I would say it all has the opposite effect for me (have not seen Sucker Punch) in that Snyder's slo-mo is all about the action itself, the "kill" so to speak, whereas Anderson's more often than not highlights the framing and composition of the shot and sequence. I also think that Afterlife is one of the more lucidly filmed and beautifully staged action films in recent years. I'm also probably nitpicking here. So... take it for what you will.

This is exactly the kind of nonsense that should be in 3D. And I hate Anderson.

'tis a deliciously bad movie. Fun, exciting, nonsensical, and does dig up poor Duma's corpse to feces in his face. I hope it does well box-office-wise. The prospect of sequel is quite enticing.

Yeah, pretty much. I was grinning from start to finish. When the dude on the airship gets shot for pointing out that they're heading for a stormcloud...:lol::lol:

It's different, and in a good way. Apparently Anderson finds his own footing and is able to develop his own style of nonsensical.

It looks like the funnest movie Anderson has ever made and the re-imagination of Dumas complete with airships isn't a bad idea at all. Still looks like it has plenty of swash and buckle. And nice cast of course.

Anderson's movies aren't really that fun. I guess his best film before this was Event Horizon, but every movie he did after that felt like it was coming from a different director. AVP? Death Race? RE? - I'm still skeptical. .

This looks craptastic and hilarious. It will be worth at least a rental, but I bet it pops up on Netflix IV so my buddies and I can watch it while drinking.

I actually saw this on Saturday with some friends who like Paul Anderson's Resident Evil movies because they contain "pretty people blowing shit up."

Its their guilty pleasure, so I don't judge. I was hesitant to go because, well, I adore the Dumas novel and I was afraid I'd hemorrhage while watching the thing, but you know what? It wasn't really that ba....

*sigh* Who am I kidding? It was excrement. Mildly diverting excrement with nice costumes and ridiculous writing.

As the film began, the credit came up that read "based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas."

I immediately called out "no, no it wasn't" thinking it was funny and to annoy my Anderson lovin' friend.

I didn't expect it to be so prophetic. Airships. Airships that crash into the roof of the Notre Dame cathedral. Booby trapped hallways. Mission Impossible-style zip wires. Using explosives to blow a hole in the canals in Venice to use them as an escape route. Slow motion fencing scenes that show stabs but no actual blood (or actual hits).

(And no, none of those is made up)

Logan Lerman CANNOT act. Which is really too bad because, as d'Artagnan, he gets the most screen time.

Orlando Bloom is ridiculous, but not as ridiculous as his hair. I thought he would break into maniacal laughter every time he was on the screen. I'm convinced that the only reason he didn't actually twirl his mustache is because it wasn't long enough.

Waltz looked bored. Jovovich was Jovovich.

The best thing I can say about it is that it was easy to make fun of in an almost affectionate kind of way, and to point out the scenes that were clear rip-offs of other films (and even video games).

The one legitimate good thing about it were the Musketeers themselves. I loved Stevenson as Porthos, and...although I cant remember the names of the guys who played Athos and Aramis, they were decent too (or at least they seemed to be compared to everyone else around them). Oh, and Juno Temple was adorable.

I just think it's unfortunate the script didn't have any wit in terms of character. The first Pirates has all that word play, and I suppose its sequels do too, whereas here there was no effort at all. I think Anderson does a swell job, though. I liked it most when it was basically Resident Evil, probably because it's the closest it gets to revealing an authorial fingerprint at all, not to mention for the amusing anachronistic nature of such things.

A great number of well-composed, well-balanced (in terms of figures, props) long shots, and the 3D complimented the depth of them intelligently.

Dumas has been filmed so many times that one might as well welcome the appearance of airships.

No?
